Someone in the Wii casual games thread mentioned he owned 12 wii games. I can’t even think of ten wii games, what are the top ten must have titles for the system?
Zelda: TP
Mario Galaxy
Mario Kart
Smash Bros Brawl
Super Paper Mario
Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition
Boom Blox
Rayman Raving Rabbids.
Okami
Zack & Wiki
I was in the middle of typing a long rant about why I don’t think Zelda: TP is worthy of being on this list. But then again, there are so few Wii games worth getting, maybe I’m wrong. I just can’t stand that game. I liked Ocarina of Time a lot back in the day, but I really hated Zelda: Twilight Princess.
EDIT: The sad thing is, Zelda is one of the rare narrative-driven games on the Wii.
Tag No More Heroes on the end of that list; it’s awesome.
I haven’t tried it, but de Blob is supposed to be good.
Yeah, I didn’t like Zelda TP either, though I didn’t like several of the previous ones either, felt like rehashes with very little new things. Mario Galaxy… couldn’t get into, i guess i’m not a platform person anymore. Same with Paper Mario. Never could get into the smash bro series. Res Evil 4 i played on the cube, can’t see myself playing through the game again. Raving Rabids seemed like just a collection of so-so minigames, like there wasn’t any game there.
Boom Blox, i’ve heard a lot, i may have to try it.
Zak and Wiki, it looked like another platformer game, am i mistaken?
Okami’s 20 min intro has turned me off from trying it, i may have to give it a second try though.
I guess thats why my roommates Wii is collecting dust, we aren’t big platform gamers?
Zack & Wiki isn’t a platform game at all, it is a puzzle/adventure game in a similar vein to the old Lucasarts stuff.
Dokapon kingdom must be on the list as well.
I’d add Excite Truck and Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn to the list. (Not the best FE of the series, but there’s not exactly a lot of SRPG competition on it for now.)
For a game that is so jump centric they made it way too difficult to actually jump. Whoever decided that jump should be on the waggle instead of on a button should be given a stern talking to because it ruined a perfectly good game.
Excite Truck and de Blob are both must-haves.
Well, there’s Guitar Hero and Rock Band.
I’m curious what games really use the WII controller? We have a WII and most games my kids rent they just sit there hardly moving. I played it for a few hours when we first got it and I liked the tennis / cow tossing / star wars light saber, but it seems many games just don’t utilize the movement of the controller vs pushing buttons on a pad.
No More Heroes has a creative use for the Wii Remote speaker. At certain points you receive phone calls and have to hold the Wii Remote up to your ear like a phone to hear what is being said clearly.
I can’t get to 10 yet. Wii Sports is actually one of the best games for the Wii - and it comes with the system. Wii Music is all together fun, but almost not a game at all. My girls love it, however.
Boom Blox - really good, but not enough for me to plunk down $50.
Mario Galaxy - Rented and played it alot. Only thing is it is essentially a one player game, which is a strike for me.
World of Goo - best game on WiiWare by far - so get that and you won’t be disappointed.
I would pay bucks for a few more golf courses for the Wii Sports golf game. Tiger Woods - I’ve heard has horrible controls, but I’d really like a great golf game for the Wii.
Does anyone know if the new Alien Crush remake WiiWare is any good?
Bah, those and the other games listed in this thread are almost the entire list of good Wii games, and I wouldn’t include Rayman Raving Rabids on that list unless you want mini-games. I was quite disappointed when I bought it that I needed to play through the single player campaign, which I have no desire to do, to play the multiplayer which is what I bought it for and what it excels at.
Aiming with your right arm while you furiously pumping with your left is priceless with drunk college students and is always good for a funny reaction from the girls.
HoF Pinball: The Williams Collection!
Dunno about Alien Crush. Tempted.
I’m expection this year’s Tiger Woods to utterly rock the house down with that MotionPlus doohickey. Seriously. Best golf game of all time.
10 good Wii games, let’s see…umm…Wii Sports is pretty cool…
That’s about it.
Well I did just buy Eternal Darkness and am constantly on the lookout for a copy of Pimkin 2.
I have high expectations (although a few years too late to be relevant) for both those Gamecube games which will be played on a Wii.
