Grabbed it and it’s waiting in my download queue :)

I watched the GiantBomb quick look and the new pet kinda looks like a dragon / lizard thing that walks on 2 legs.
Nothing can replace the mighty ferret!
Yeah, it’s some weird lizardy thing. I still prefer the wolf, I think.
I’m somewhat worried about the performance issues mentioned in the Giantbomb quicklook. I’d love to buy this again just to be able to play in the living room, but I think I’d have a hard time playing a version of the game that runs noticeably worse than on the PC.

I don’t think it runs noticeably worse at all. I have seen a little slow down but its nothing major at all and not game breaking in the least. So far I am level 7 and I feel like the game is a lot more fun on the 360 then on the PC. They did a great job with this.
I didn’t have any tech issues either.
Good to hear. Maybe their 360 stinks.
I’m playing as an alchemist and I’ve noticed that after I spend a point in Nether Imp that will give me the ability to summon an additional imp I can actually summon one more on top of that. It’s happened when I went from 1 to 2 imps (so I could have 3) and has happened again now that I just went from 2 to 3. When I had 3 imps instead of 2 and one died I couldn’t summon the extra imp again but it’s definitely happening when I first upgrade the skill. Not a bad bug to have by any means but it’s something that slipped by some testing.
I only played the demo for a bit but it was a lot of fun and I agree the controller worked great. I’ve bought and played the PC one and I really didn’t care about it coming to the Xbox but it’s really worked out. Maybe I’m misremembering this part but I don’t think I really ever used guns, I remember equipping them but I can’t recall the actual UI mechanism to use it. With the controller though the attack button will use melee or ranged depending on your distance to target. Combat was really fun blasting the Ratkins down.

This game is so worth the 15 bucks. Its a great port.
My alchemist is up to level 11 and on the 7th floor of the dungeon, playing on hard. There are a couple of problems with the game; I have had some slowdown with a large number of enemies and spell effects are on the screen at once, and it can be hard to aim precisely occasionally, but none of that matters. This is the perfect dungeon crawl from the couch experience. I’m up to three imps and a golem and it’s so awesome to buff them up and watch them terrorize huge groups of enemies while I shoot poison bolts from a distance. And seriously, every game should let you dual wield wands.

So my guy is level 33 now and I finally cracked the top 500 on the leader boards. This really is the perfect couch dungeon crawl.
After playing the demo, there does seem to be some framerate chugging going on, but nothing serious. Still worth the benefit of being able to use the gamepad, which I have to say is a lot more fun than using the mouse/kb.

The gamepad really is the best thing going here, but the tech issues get really noticeable the farther in you play. Nothing so gamebreaking, but enough sluggishness and hitch to think that it really deserved more optimization time.
Also, I hate not being warned that ‘Normal’ difficulty actually meant ‘barely a videogame’ mode. Kind of a dick move really, especially now that I am attached to my loot and have made decent progress, it’s a tragedy the game will seemingly never throw a threat my way to abuse it all. When did Normal difficulty become the new god mode?
The proposition to restart from scratch on a more ‘playable’ difficulty is kind of an insult.

Well the game has always been like that even on the PC. I guess if you would have read through the 55 pages in this thread you might have seen it but yeah normal is way too easy and hell hard is pretty easy depending on your class and build.
I’ve been suckered into buying Torchlight again :-)
It’s more fun and plays more quickly on XBox IMO. The PC / Mac version provides a little more control, but playing on the couch is more comfortable for long period.
A few niggles / questions:
- text is too damned small even on a 46" HDTV
- Is there any way to setup two weapon slots & quick-switch on the XBox version? I didn’t see that in the help but may have missed it.

Thanks,

BDGE – you can throw your loot in the shared stash. Pretty sure that works across difficulties. Haven’t tried it personally, though, so don’t hate if it doesn’t work.
I heard on the GB podcast (they had an interview with Max Schaefer) that this feature did not make it from the PC version.
