I can’t get excited about a Beastmen DLC unless there are preview of SERIOUS quality of life improvements for them on campaign. They have the most primitive and difficult version of horde mechanics still in the game and it’s painfully unfun to grind through the early game with limited replenishment, little or no income, and constantly skulking because the AI has the resources to exterminate early hordes easily if they can catch them in the open.

That its does! Super excited!

I was pretty pumped, but Jabber and Ghorgon take it up several notches.

It’s definitely coming. The question is if it will be enough, but I think they’ve learned quite a bit from the Sisters DLC. Painting the map as a horde that can’t settle is… basically impossible. It’s not fun and it’s super easy to lose completely. They know this. People have given them ideas for half a decade at this point and they are changing how Beastmen play. The question is if it will be enough, but I suspect it will be.

The real question is how the Malagor and Kazrak interact with it. Will the “change” be that Taurox gets to hunt for the Heart of Darkness and M&K are stuck with trying to murder the Empire or whatever, or will they get a similar questline/goal? I suspect they will. With the WE’s everyone got the same “heal the World Tree” objective and it works well.

Hordes might be okay if you have an objective beyond “kill everyone” because that objective is nearly impossible for a horde. You always get back capped unless you make friends with Skaven to occupy what you destroy or you take 300+ turns to make any progress.

Same here but there is now debate on reddit whether those unit cards are legit. I hope they are since both units would be hugely popular with fans and needed on that roster.

Beastmen aren’t gonna get many, if any, DLCs after this I suspect, so they’d better be.

The BM DLC is pretty crap by any metric, this is CA’s chance to make it right imo.

WH2 is now on a big steam sale. I own WH1, haven’t played it much. Is there something important, that I am missing when I stay on WH1?

Personally, I have enjoyed the narrative direction and more tangible goals of the WH2 Nexus campaigns over the WH1 ones. WH1 feels more like a sandbox to me and WH2 feels like a campaign. I know a lot of people don’t like the nexus stuff too. Really, it feels like CA has learned over time and anything newer than something else be it a faction, campaign, or mechanic, the new one always seems improved. That said, WH3 is coming so it may vastly improve on 2 and 1.

If nothing else, the factions that come with WH2 are well worth it on a sale pick up IMO.

Think of Tw2 as a huge dlc with tons of new factions to play

It makes sense as I also doubt they would have another update so this would be an opportune time to add both. Crosses fingers!

What @Chaplin said, basically. The narrative campaigns are great, and better than the sandbox ones IMHO. IIRC in TW1 you got one for the Bretonnians, so maybe if you tried that you’d get a flavor. The nexus/vortex campaigns are solid to play through at least once, though they do some annoying things with forced diplomacy modifiers. But a lot of the DLC campaigns are tighter/more focused and introduce neat (and silly) side mechanics, too.

It’s nice to grind out a Mortal Empires campaign every so often but the smaller, narrative campaigns are where the spice of life is.

In addition to all the gameplay reasons already stated by others, I assume that owning WH2 means you’ll have it accessible as a DLC when you eventually move on to WH3 (since owning WH1 means it is available as DLC in WH2).

can I play TW:WH1 in WH2? (with any graphical improvements and so on)

TW1 works as DLC for TW2 basically. you can uninstall TW1

Great, thanks! It’s 20 bucks…

edit: 20 bucks for TW:WH2

Those factions arent in my wheel house… but I wonder what the hidden faction leader is ?

(most warhammer 2 expansions advertise the two --but there is almost a hidden third…)

I am in the middle of a very difficult Caledor campaign (Imrick) … I tried to smoke those damn skavens and I failed… now i am holed up like the US army in Vietnam. … I may lose but by god I will go out fighting. Durn ol skavens , and orcs, and, well atm everyone. A Caledor Imrck btwis a top 5 most difficult campaigns on ME.

There I defended my lack of winning with some stats!

I dunno what my deal is with Warhammer 2 – but I am pretty sure I saw that new add-on as 9.99 on my steam page.

yes, I meant the main game WH2.

I haven’t played a Total war game in over a decade, but the sale and nostalgia made me grab this. All the love for the gameplay ad campaign convinced me to blow $20 on it. Looking forward to taking it out for a spin this weekend.

I have an odd problem. When I run this game for a while, my computer turns into a space heater. No other game I play has this issue. Yet after 30 minutes, my computer fans are all going pretty good and the room I am in is a good 5 degrees warmer.

Does anyone have an idea of some kind of video setting I can use to tone down whatever this game is doing to not get my room so hot? I did put on the v-sync to limit the frame rate, but that doesn’t seem to have solved the problem.

You can use a utility like BES to limit CPU use. I did this with TWW2 to prevent the campaign map from making my GPU scream nonstop and would toggle it off for battles and fast end-turn processing. Play with the percentage limit and sleep time to find a comfortable framerate. Setting the sleep time too high will cause audio to break up.
