I don’t think they can be - it looked like they were part of the “free stuff coming” video (and he said in that video he wasn’t allowed to talk about paid stuff yet).

Sieges are getting a rework, presumably the issue with ogres and walls is going to be addressed by it, but who knows.

I hope whatever faction they choose for preorder race are well done. The other freebie and preorder races were less than stellar so if it’s Ogre Kingdoms, a real possibility, CA learned from its past ones and the hope it is a fleshed out faction. Regardless, I am super excited to see them and Chaos dwarfs!

I think it’s pretty likely we’ll still see a race pack for Ogre Kingdoms rather than their only inclusion being as a few mercenaries. My question is whether or not the full release of Ogre Kingdoms will be the WH3 pre-order bonus race as CA has clearly done some work on the roster already. Or if the early Ogre inclusion was meant to throw a bone to Ogre Kingdoms fans because they aren’t coming as a full faction for some time.

But honestly who knows. It all sounds plausible to me.

Embargo is over (I swore it was the 8th). There are let’s plays in the wild as well.
This is mostly mutliplayer focused, but it’s a run down of the units and general stats.

Any videos on the new dwarf lord?

I always like these expansions. 1 on 1 and oh yes lets give you some extra.

Though I hate the business model (lets put out a a great game and charge for extras forever).

War2 maps change by way of expansions. I do wonder what it would be like to play war 2 with only vanilla and all the patches.

This stream goes into Thorek in a lot of detail at the start. I didn’t watch all 5 hours though lol!

I’m not sure I follow - without the paid DLC they can’t keep putting out more (let alone free) content. They have done an exemplary job iterating and improving the game while also introducing tons of new content, both free and paid along side one another, every major update and I’m really happy with this model. Even if you just own the base game and don’t pay anything more, you get a ton of cool new toys to play with and foes to face on the field.

These changes aren’t live for us yet right?

July 14th.

Agreed with what you said. I welcome new content and improvements to the game over time and am more than happy to pay for this content. It has generally introduced very new mechanics per new Lord, cool new units that buff factions that need it ie new air units, new tanky units, fast skirmish units etc. If it were a one and done game, we would miss out on a lot of things. Almost every faction was improved upon save a few which should continue to see updates going into game 3.

I fall on the opposite side of the fence because my contribution to paying for the DLC means someone who may not or will not want to buy it still benefits from the free updates. Particularly someone that can not afford DLC, the game they have in their library is still being updated, minus some content behind a transparent paywall. I’m putting a bit of an egalitarian spin on it, but I am and have been fully on board with the model that CA and Paradox do because it permits an iterative design process that everyone can benefit from in some way.

Having seen Zerkovich’s video on the new Rune system for Dwarves, I’m very impressed. Never really cared much for RuneSmiths in the campaign, I much preferred the Engineers for their buffs to the ranged units. This might change things a bit now.

Sadly I find it very challenging these days to sit through youtube videos, and my google fu isn’t good today. Is there a readable summary somewhere?

There is a blogpost.

I’m with Kristi on this one, although I adore this game and it’s the “least bad” of the DLC trickle models because everything in the packs is there to be interacted with; you just need to buy in order to unlock stuff for whomever you’re using.

Still, it’s largely relying upon the whales to pay for development. By the time Warhammer 3 is done, I almost shudder to think how much I will have spent. For me, it’s totally worth it. But for people with self control issues and less available funds, not so much.

This is so bizarre. You agree the game is selling too much content but you love all the content? Sorry to say, it sounds like you are actually on my side of the argument. :)

Fuck these (presumed to exist) people! They can also buy the game when it’s bundled and on sale on Humble or something, and mix/match the stuff they actually care about with no drawbacks, in any case. I wish MORE of my games would put out more and varied (and quality) content post-release. When is the last time we had any Age of Wonders Planetfall DLC? Too long. Same with most of my games. Not Warhammer II - this fucking thing keeps giving me reasons to get back into it, and I’m loving it more and more every time.

Superstar, thanks.

This is one of the reasons I can’t complain about the DLC policy of CA for these games. Sure - you have to pay for the two new Lords in Silence & Fury. But on top of that everyone gets what is essentially a new faction into the game with a bunch of entirely new mechanics and systems. In addition to the Mortal Empires game mode (which I guess one can argue should be part of the base game, if one was uncharitable), they’ve basically added two new factions for free to a game that starts out with 4.

I agree with @strategy on this one. They are constantly producing new DLC and asking for more money from fans of the series, true, but they are also providing good value. Each DLC typically re-invigorates a faction or two (or three) and adds even more replayability to a game that is chock full of replayability. And a casual player doesn’t have to get into any of that until they are bored with the base factions and decide they want to invest to get more gameplay.

I’m not a fan of being nickel and dimed for a game, but TW:WH 1 and 2 provided a lot of bang for each DLC buck.
