This has not been my experience - I’m still getting the same 65-85 fps while playing, even loading an existing pre-patch campaign. Seems odd?
Seems odd. On a reload of my current (new) existing campaign game still feels sluggish. Turn times still in the 25 below second mark after 25 turns. More testing necessary! I’ll also check the forums to see if maybe I am an anomaly.
One thing can be stated without very little doubt: Turn times are down over 50-75 % in ME.

I played quite a bit of Malus and… I dunno.
It’s neat. Love the voice, but… double starting locations means like all the terrain around him is orange or red. The Possession is kinda neat, but mostly it seems like “wait till you have 10 possession, fight something, drink a potion so your units can heal”. Since you’ll be possessed again in 5 turns, it mostly ends up being a tax on your spoils.
It’s an interesting area, but it’s not like I can go fight Khalida, because deserts are Red to me. Also everything west of her is going to be Red because it’s a giant flipping desert. Also no one has a port over there because… well it was off the map. So you can’t really trade with anyone unless you buddy up with Snikch, in which case you can’t really expand?
Snikch and Repanse are pretty damned cool though. I was doing alright with Repanse until everyone declared war on me and the stupid little flying lizard showed up with his Summoned Dino Army. Knight Errants aren’t very effective against a sea of high armor dinos and carnos early in the game. My peasants just get run over as they scream in Terror.
Maybe I’ll give Malus another shot and stay north, but I suspect that will feel a lot like playing Malekith.
Edit: Also tried Pestilens a bit. They’re waaaay better now, but Gor-Rok is hot bullshit. He doesn’t start with Kroak, but he still has a rite that makes his saurus have super defense and unbreakable. So… if that happens to be up (not sure how you can check other that noticing it in the messages and remembering), you basically can’t win a fight against him. Even Plague Monks cracked out on Plague and backed by catapults doesn’t stop a wall of Saurus Warriors. They can’t break so they just win the war of attrition while catapults lightly caress them with each barrage.
As early game Skaven vs Lizards you need to be leaning extremely hard on getting maximum value out of your Plague Priest in battle. I would take the priest Skrolk starts with and use him as my primary caster early so that I can spec Skrolk for army-line buffs.
But overcast Withering is an absolute game-changer against Lizardmen. All of a sudden they have worse armor than you do. The problem Plague Monks have against Lizardmen isn’t that they can’t hit them, they have a decent anti-infantry bonus and MA stats, it’s that the most basic Saurus has like 80 armor and Plague Monks (basic ones at least) don’t do hardly any AP damage. Withering solves this problem.
More math is incoming, Guys we are talking about turn times in ME… most of us believe that if ME turn times in Warhammer 2 end up being short… the game just ends up be ridiculously fun.

Gor-Rok had been a pain in my arse in my Vampire Coast campaign as well. Decent stack of Saurus Warriors and I might as well kiss my army goodbye. Part of the issue is the strong counter those Saurus warriors have to my fielded army of projectile damage. It was absolute insanity pre-patch. Post patch, I’m dreading to see what I’m going to come across.

Empire turn 1 pre-patch. 70 seconds.
Reikland turn 1 post-patch. 19 seconds.
Yeah, I had some early ME turns come in under 10 seconds. It was crazy.

Forget crazy, that sounds “playable” which is even more important to me. :) ME turn times were killer.

Those are some fantastically detailed numbers. Thanks so much @SamS and @KristiGaines for reporting them!
I’m having a bug where the right click and drag only works about 20% of the time. When it fails, it acts as of I just right-clicked at the end of the place I dragged across. Anyone else seen this? No problem at all in TW:1.
Right-click and drag? Odd. I use middle-mouse and drag.
Check that your ALT key isn’t stuck or something?
Thanks, I’ll try both of those.
Right click and drag is for reshaping units (and repositioning), I’ve used it since Total War Immemorial. What does middle and drag do??
Ah, for some reason I assumed you meant to pan the camera. This sounds like a bad right-click button, possibly?
A possibility! But I haven’t noticed it elsewhere…
I guess the question is do you use your right-mouse button as frequently or for as sustained a time as you do in Warhammer 2, elsewhere?
Also, there is this handy thing:

Normally, yes, but with the Rite up they become Slayers. Slayers that don’t die. I had them Withered and my dudes were using Poisoned weapons. Didn’t matter, they just wore me down. It’s like fighting a glacier with an icepick.
Unbreakable Sauruses are nearly unbeatable for Skaven early on (and probably later for that matter). They also get a ton of armor I think (or MD, something). Plagueclaw catapults hit them in the face and their health bar barely moves. Add in Gor-Rok himself who can practically solo an army on his own and it gets super ugly fast.
He walked through two armies like they weren’t there. I need to find a way to see if the Rite is up, because if it is, you just can’t fight the dude.
On the plus side getting early access to plague and a bonus from plague is amazing. If you can manage to catch said plague (easier said than done I sat in a plagued town for 4 turns and never caught it).

Okay. The time has come. I have a new beast computer. I have fiddled with settings. The massive turn timer patch has landed. I am ready for a campaign. I have tried the Headtaker Queek (for lore reasons) vortex campaign a few times, but met terrible ends. It is labeled “hard” so maybe that is too deep end for my first run.
I have everything except the recent Hunt DLC. I generally prefer bad guys and monstrous units. I was drawn to the Vampire Counts, but I think ME is too much for a first run. I have considered Skrulk as I kinda get Skaven now and he is supposed to be easier than Queek.
Looking back, to race mechanics and different campaigns, what would the experienced folks here suggest for my starting point?
