Triad Wars - United Front (Sleeping Dogs), PC, Online

Maybe f2p?

More to be revealed on Monday.

United Front being very coy about the monetization. It’s obviously structured like an f2p game, but they won’t just come out and admit it.

Anyway, it looks like GTA Online, but with more grinding.

Reddit AMA:

Right now we don’t have female characters, but the great thing about a live game is that anything is possible. Some of these questions have been answered below, but one thing I’ve noticed is there are a lot of references to the game being an MMO. Just to make it clear, we don’t consider this game to be an MMO.

Triad Wars is about competing against a smaller set of players in an asynchronous world. We think of it more of an action/strategy/rpg.

Uh, okay.

F2P confirmed.

How we monetize is something we’ll be testing and tuning based on what we learn in our beta tests. Our guiding principle is that you shouldn’t ever have to pay in order to enjoy the game.

…And it’s done. Never got out of beta.

Since the start of the Triad Wars Closed Beta this year, diligent Enforcers have run rampant through the streets of Hong Kong, killing rivals and building Empires. During this time we have gathered immense amounts of feedback, information, and data on the game. We’ve loved seeing how you’ve played Triad Wars but we know it wasn’t right for many of you, so we’re letting you know today that we are going to close the beta on January 20th 2016 at 12 p.m. Pacific Standard Time. That’s 4 weeks from today and over this time we’re going to leave the game up and running for you to continue to enjoy but we will not be accepting any more purchases. To help you enjoy these final 4 weeks we’re going to make Gold available free of charge and we’ll shortly be posting news on the forums about how to deal with refunds of unused Gold. Thank you very much for all the testing, feedback and support!

Amazing misstep from United Front.
