You’re being pretty annoying, and I don’t blame gruntled for it.

Come on, man. You’re better than that. I’m not trying to taunt you, I’m just saying impeachment right now is impossible (to convict I mean). There may be a chance it’s possible if subpoenas uncover something, if we can split a few Republicans off in the senate. I’m just as angry as you, but until we get 2/3 of the Senate we’re stuck. If we move for impeachment now, we don’t have the votes and we lose our shot. We also make it more likely to lose 2020 and then we’re even more fucked.

I don’t blame gruntled either, but he asked the question. And my answer isn’t a personal attack, I only quoted him for context to my reply.

And if you think this is annoying, then you’re part of the problem. You can go to bed tonight happy to know that nothing has changed and Trump has nothing to fear while he’s president, and I can be incensed about it. Maybe you’ll have a better time of it, but you’re still part of the problem, because apparently it’s just easier and less annoying.

While this is true, the Dem leadership should be our in front saying ‘Trumps crimes merit and are worthy of impeachment. The administration needs to be reigned in and held accountable. However the senate would refuse to do their constitutional duty and so actually going through the hearings would be unproductive at this time. Therefore we are working to further strenghten the case for the American people and the Senate so that the public is fully aware of the misdeeds of the President’

Not this weak ass ‘the president is a criminal but we won’t impeach him’

If you’re not going to do it, then at least say why while also explaining why he should be.

I want to be better than that, but Pelosi isn’t the only one I’m raging at, it’s all the people trying to justify the act of sitting on our hands and giving Trump and his administration free reign for the next 2 years.

So what is the solution? How do we stop Trump, avoid constitutional crisis, restrict the power of the presidency, etc?

I think we’re supposed to fucking post like fucking this then we won’t be part of the fucking problem.

Yea, you nailed it. hurr hurr hurr.

The solution is to stop governing an election and start governing our country. I don’t want a politician to just tell me they’re the answer to all my problems, I want them to show me. And by giving Trump power for the next two years, they’re effectively telling me they don’t want any part of solving our problems, they just want my vote.

How do we stop Trump?

Step one, hold him accountable for his crimes. Allow us to see them addressed in public, in an official capacity, and allow us to see where the the process is working and where it falls apart. Because right now republicans aren’t to blame for our situation, Democrats are. Democrats and fear. We are so fucking terrified of bad stuff happening in 2020 that we won’t allow ourselves to do the right thing. And how are we rewarded for this bit of enduring patience while waiting for 2020 to arrive? Why, we’ll just keep on experiencing that bad stuff right now.

We’ve got a core fear that Republicans will curb-stomp any attempt to move a process forward. Fine, if they do, they do. Let them SHOW the world their corruption on this specific matter, in a public forum, instead of just allowing Democrats to keep TELLING us that it exists. To me, there’s a world of difference in what I’m supposed to believe is true and what is shown to be true.

avoid constitutional crisis?

I don’t think a constitutional crisis in this context is something we need to fear or avoid. If anything, I welcome the chance to see the ongoing ambiguities and obscurities cemented and nailed down. Go through the painful motion of figuring out true solutions to crises like these, because it’s honestly best for health of our country going forward. And I’m not just talking about fifty years from now when the next thoroughly corrupt president stirs things up again, but right now. I believe people need to actually see the mechanisms of our constitution and laws put into motion, see the rough edges smoothed out, and observe as the process plays out and what comes of it, because I believe if we stop being so damned afraid of crises like these then maybe we’ll be better able to embrace and address them as a nation when they do occur.

I need politicians to stop telling me what I need to be afraid of. And I think we all need that.

restrict the power of the presidency, etc?

I guess that’s one option, but to what degree I can’t say. What I demand is that our elected officials actually give us the opportunity to find out.

Literally no one is saying that.

The suggestion that the Democrats “aren’t doing anything” is objectively false.

If you are willing to do something which would lead to Trump being reelected in 2020, then you are retarded.

Under current conditions, that’s not going to happen. Trump could be impeached, but he will not be removed from office, because the Senate will not convict him in the current political course. Instead, the Senate will acquit him, and then Trump will be able to use that as a point to campaign upon.

The GOP won’t come to its senses. They’ll triple-down. They don’t care anything except about their base.

Then we’re at am impasse. I equate the ongoing defense of congress’ ongoing inaction to be exactly that.

Like doing nothing? Because that’s apparently what we’re supposed to support here. Stop telling me what to be scared of. I’m sick and tired of people telling me what to be afraid of. Just like I’m sick and tired of the next big thing that will cause Trump’s administration to come all tumbling down. I’ll believe it when I see it.

Maybe they do. Let them show me. Let them show everybody. Have us chew on that between now and the next election, and then use it to twist the damn knife.

I like Kerzain’s post and I agree there is very little evidence that anything is happening. I called all my congressmen a few weeks ago because I"M NOT SEEING ANY COMMENTS FROM THEM AT ALL.

They are just sitting there. They should be starting an investigation and keeping this in the news 24x7. EVERY democratic congressperson should be proclaiming that the Mueller report is damning and has enough evidence that congress MUST ACT.

When I spoke with people on the phone, they asked me “Do you want impeachment” and I said that I’m more interested in bringing pressure and further investigations because Mueller left all this evidence and if we do nothing, I will pull the R lever next elections.

I need to see my congress people clamoring for justice. I don’t know that Impeachment is the justice, but the evidence is overwhelming that we need to follow up.

Yes, now is the time for us to make perfect the enemy of good and ensure four more years of Trump and a Republican Senate. Good thinking.

No it’s called holding people accountable.

It sounds like you are wanting a judicial process, which impeachment is not. I want him gone, but truly holding him accountable for his crimes doesn’t seem likely to happen in any meaningful way until after he’s out of office. Of course, impeachment could make that happen if our government were working as intended.

It’s calling holding Democrats accountable and rewarding Republicans, the real culprits, if they don’t satisfy you. It’s crazy.

I mean even the Tea Party didn’t threaten to vote for Democrats if they didn’t get what they wanted.

You’ve completely jumped the shark.
