Rikers is a hell hole. Good for him.

Nancy in private has the right of it!

I don’t think Trump will ever spend one day in prison. I think he’ll lose his re-election bid and ride off into the sunset. The next Dem administration will decline to pursue indictments out of concern about the optics of it and the potential for sowing division. It’s possible NY will pursue an indictment, but I doubt even that.

How optimistic of you (not sarcasm)

Which is the optimistic part?

That he’d lose, and that if he did he’d ride off into the sunset with no fuss.

Anything can happen, but his approval rating now says he will most likely lose, and it’s pretty hard to imagine something which changes the trajectory of that rating substantially.

There aren’t any levers he can use to prevent another President being duly inaugurated in January 2021. He can shout if he wants, but shouting won’t prevent that.

I wish some people would ask the candidates that question. I care about that more than the minute details of widely accepted Democrat policies they aren’t going to be able to implement anyway.

Almost like there’s some agreement amongst them to not talk about the orange elephant in the room.

Not giving the GOP clips they can play on repeat of their opponents saying they want to throw Trump in jail seems like a reasonable move.

Yes, because clips about, say, locking up your opponents, play very poorly with the American electorate.

(yeah yeah democrats are poor propagandists who are leery of tapping into the Mentally Deficient Fuckwad demographic WHATEVER MAN)

Well, there are things that work with voters on the right but don’t work so well with voters on the left. In any event, I doubt any Dem candidate will answer a hypothetical like if you win will you prosecute your opponent? because there’s basically no upside to taking a position on it either way.

The people who hate Trump are going to vote for you anyway. The people who like him are going to vote for him anyway. And there’s basically no one undecided on that point.

I just had the most awesome idea on how to get him out of office. We need to get some tv exec/corporation to make him some absurdly lucrative offer that will get him to leave. Then, cancel the contract once he is out of office.

Hell, at this point I’m okay with a taxpayer-funded contract buyout for the remainder of his term.

I’m good with that - as long as they go full Trump and bail out later without paying.

So Trump is Hannity’s sock puppet. The worst timeline.

Something about that guy looks familiar…

Ah, there it is.

The Washington Post interview with Buttigieg asked if he would hypothetically pardon Trump and he said that’s an easy question, the answer is no. He would let it play out in the courts because not doing so would be extremely damaging to our Democracy
