I thought it was because he was being audited, though also a lie.

I agree. He’s not as rich as he says, and the returns will show he has a lot of income from Russian sources.

He’s not a great business guy, and never has been. He’s a great self-promoter and con man. He started out life as a one-percenter and has been treading water ever since. His grandfather and father probably had dealings with criminals and he’s been his own version of a weaksauce mob boss too.

Everybody does remember that he bragged about paying no taxes during the debates, right?

We declined to prosecute members of an administration who kidnapped people and tortured them to death, bragged about it, then destroyed evidence of it in direct violation of a court order. I’m guessing no one in power after Trump will have the appetite to go after him.

House Republicans have begun shouting at Mueller.

Shocking.

HOW DARE YOU DO YOUR JOB!

I don’t know if I can even watch this without feeling sick.

I’m working and have the TV on but have my back to it. I may have to turn it off as it is distracting.

Sensenbrenner is a tool.

Caught a little on NPR on my way in this morning.

Mueller sounds old and infirm. Decorated public servant or no, he sounds like somebody’s grandpa who doesn’t remember what he wrote and keeps repeating, “uh, I’ll, uh, refer you to the, uh, report.”

Not surprised that he is staying “within the four corners” of the report, all indications were that he would do so.

Though I agree, he is not presenting well. I can’t imagine the pressure and stress of being grilled on national television on such complicated material. He is a pro I would not fare well.

Many of the questions are kind of rambling, it’s like you submit an 1000 page thesis and then people are firing off questions to you from Breitbart or Daily Kos.

Hank Johnson is getting things a bit more on track.

Mueller is coming across as halting, and frankly, a bit senile.

Yea, people hoping for an eloquent orator to make a undeniable case against Trump are dissapointrd
now.

But i also think we can see how Mueller was allowed to even work on the project as long as he was - that near-senile personality is both a shield and a passport for the kind of work he performed.

The real concern that i mentioned was that trump chooses to never leave office. I doubt that the fed will choose to prosecute him because dems are cowards for some reason, but the states can and more likely will go after him once/if he leaves office.

I cannot understand what type of person you have to be to vote for Gohmert. That guy just comes across as a part-time clown that can’t ever get a gig because he’s too stupid to return calls from potential clients.

Most people in Texas who pull the R lever do so without a moments reflection. Once past the primary they’re more or less a shoe in.

Jim Jordan is warming up, he is about to crank it up to 11.

columbo

I heard the first 30 minutes on NPR this morning when I was stuck in traffic on the way to work. I found myself agreeing with the Republican questioners. He could have made conclusions, or at least said if something was an impeachable offense, but he didn’t do any of that. Of course, the Republicans are implying he shouldn’t have done the second section of the report at all given that he couldn’t charge the President, but I agree with them that he had more leeway in reaching conclusions and helping congress than what he ended up doing.

Their position is entirely instrumentalist though. If he had made conclusions they’d be accusing him of reaching beyond his purview.
