I have a cynical and bitter view of Trump and Barr, and at this point I basically expect corrupt, exploitative and abusive acts but I have to say, that brief, the argument made, the about-face, throwing the FBI under the bus, targeting people has a hate-on for by name, etc., is just sickening. Jesus wept. I mean, I know we’re way past “If Obama did this…” but JFC if Obama did this, hell even I would be upset with Obama. Beyond upset. And the way the GOP would react… the baby Jesus sheds tears of blood.
I mean… what the F’ing F? Guy was stone guilty, so guilty he plead guilty despite his high position, wealth, and connected attorneys, and now due to politics the DOJ is throwing its own people, other agencies of the US, etc., under the bus? This is worse than a pardon IMO. It’s worse b/c Trump himself is irredeemably corrupt but now we’re seeing that Barr is corrupting the entire DOJ.
The good news is that a Biden administration can reopen the case, there’s no pardon.
Assuming Flynn walks, I think there is zero chance a future administration reopens this case and tries to pursue it. Why would they bother?
If only we had some way of knowing we were electing a dumbass version of Al Capone. If. Only.
