I would love to see the conspiracy theories surrounding “Trump’s anal syphilis” LOL.

If the cops had actually done their job, stopped coddling these people or outright supporting them, they never would’ve been in the position they were in. Those people never should’ve been able to set foot in that building or threaten the lives of the people in it. They were not looting and there to just break stuff. They were there to get people. Remember, they had a noose out front, badly constructed, complete with threats and at least one group planning to take hostages.

They had weeks to stop this from happening and the GOP applauded their efforts.

Hey, I’m not disputing it, I’ve said before, your house, your rules.

Yet, at the same time… these are not normal circumstances.
We witnessed a violent insurrection yesterday, where people breached the US Capitol building.

Pretending like they are normal people is foolish.

I love that you pointed this out. :D

Please take this shit somewhere else. Seriously.

Concur. It’s Tom’s forum. I may disagree with elements of his premise, but that’s neither here nor there.

I do think having a separate thread to discuss sounds like a good idea if there’s going to be a rule change overall.

Edit: discuss may be the wrong word… Maybe “announce”

As others have pointed out… I don’t know that thing would’ve held a full adult’s weight.

More likely they’d die from it collapsing on them than actually being hung from it.

Someone made a joke about the gallows at the time, “The only way you could kill someone on those, would be if it collapsed and fell on them.”

Yeah thanks that’s what I was trying to remember/reference but I was too lazy to find it.

Where did I do this?

Seriously, where have I in any way tried to normalize Trump supporters or what happened yesterday?

You know… we’ve had topics where unarmed men, women and children were literally shot in the back running away from violence that allowed for discussion about their death that didnt’ seem nearly as… heavy handed as this one is turning out to be.

It doesn’t seem right to treat those two differently.

I don’t think it’s okay for people to die who didn’t need to, but there is definitely not equal treatment going on here.

Oh, sorry, I didn’t mean to suggest you did.

But I think that saying it’s ok for the cops to have shot these people, is different than saying it’s ok for the cops to shoot other people, or even other protestors.

I’ve said this in either this thread or another one… I’m of two minds on this. Part of me recognizes the danger of an overly agressive, militarized police force.

But part of me says if you commit treason, and breaching the US capitol building seems like you’re at least skirting that line, then I don’t really mind if you get shot.

Of course, bear in mind, I’m probably one of the few folks on this forum who supports capital punishment in some cases.

She’s not available. She’s having plastic surgery to permanently furrow her brow.

Not being a dick has been a hard and fast rule on this forum all along. Part of not being a dick is not advocating murder, torture, executions, and that sort of thing. That’s not really something I should have to spell out, is it?

But a lot of folks have done this under the cover of gallows humor for a while now, and it’s particularly disappointing after the events of yesterday that they still do it. I’m asking that they don’t do it anymore. It’s really only a couple of people, and if it continues to be a problem, then I can talk to those people. In the meantime, this seems as good a place as any to bring it up, as there are about a half dozen examples of it since yesterday.

Are you making a distinction between messages that say “it’s good that person X got shot” and ones that point out that attempting to violently break into a room with members of government who also happen to be in the line of succession is highly likely to get you shot, and appropriately so.

I’ve seen a bit of discussion of the latter, not that much of the former…though certainly variations of “play stupid games” is not uncommon.

The bridge of her nose will now be centered on her upper lip.
