Before the pandemic, world hunger and poverty and crime were at all time lows in recorded history. Not “gone”, by any means, but world society was more evolved than at any point. And it’s not a vain hope that post-pandemic, things may eventually right themselves again.

Hanselman’s stepson was arrested on Vermont Avenue NW, some two miles from the Capitol building and at least three blocks from the White House. He was arrested on initial charges of carrying a pistol without a license, possession of a large capacity ammunition feeding device, and possession of unregistered ammunition, the police report shows.

“He is not a Trumpster,” the stepfather said. “Not a MAGA (Make America Great Again) person.”

“We’re totally flabbergasted as to the charges,” he said.

The biological father of the 25-year-old told the Detroit Free Press that he believes his son was there to protest against the Trump supporters. His son had participated in Black Lives Matter causes and was interested in fighting for social justice.

Even with DJT leading the country, pre-pandemic crime, hunger and poverty in the US were also at all-time lows.

Now, arguments about freedom, equality, institutional and systemic racism, sexism, and and a variety of other subjects in which the US have taken major steps back – or continued to hand wave away – in recent years are also 100% valid too. And they’re a massive problem for our progress as a country.

If there’s any silver lining, I think understanding and knowledge of problems of things like systemic racism has never been more widely distributed across population demographics. Doesn’t mean that there’s progress there or even sufficient levels of understanding. But the Trump era has helped shine a bright light on the issue for many more Americans who thought we were somehow in a post-racial society when we elected Barack Obama in 2008.

Yes, I understand that complaint. I just couldn’t see how it applies to Hawley’s claim of a first amendment violation.

I don’t think that idea has any legs at all. The President isn’t a serving military officer. He holds no commission by virtue of being President which obligates him to a lifetime of service on demand.

Yeah, that won’t fly at all. Flynn, on the other hand, should be recalled immediately after Biden is sworn in and get the book thrown at him. I’m seriously wondering if he’s got a flight to Russia before the 20th.
