Like the President on tape telling people to attack Congress? Then pardoning them?

Yeah, this. We are speaking to posterity now too.

Huh.

I’m starting to feel like it’s time we change some of the rules.

I’d like to submit for consideration of the USA new Rule #1 for 2021: the unpardon.

I was about to say maybe we shouldn’t give President Pence a chance to pardon Trump. But, maybe that’s not something to worry about.

This was funnier before the Capitol Policeman injured fighting the mob died.

Is it bad that my first thought is “Of course you won’t be there. You expect/want your MAGA hats to storm the inauguration”?

My second thought was that DJT did not write this tweet because it uses proper punctuation, spells all the words correctly, and isn’t written in ALL CAPS.

Oh, believe me, if we could rewrite the Constitution today, that’s on the list. But that’s like #253 on the list.

And it’s a pipe dream.

About that…

Not that he has power yet, but is elected. And platformed, in an eerily similar way.

Well, you know Trump just told them that Pence was going to let them down, got them riled up, and told them to march to the capitol.

This is all, 100%, on DJT. Symbolic here, since DJT is nothing but a pile of rancid shit himself.

So that I can deal with my rage ahead of time…

Nothing in the law can stop Trump from pardoning the terrorists from yesterday, correct? He could do this at a minutes notice, so not even removing him from office could stop it?

If true, he will do it, so I’d prefer to get the screams out now.

That was my thought too.

You’re correct. He could issue a blanket pardon.

The one thing he can’t do, though, is pardon these traitors for state crimes. Almost all of them don’t come from DC. And there is certainly a lot of criminal conspiracy that set this up. So the hope would be the local prosecutors start going to town.

Yes exactly. You can’t stop the president from issuing pardons. You can’t have a do-over or an unpardon. The system has a protection against presidents issuing bad pardons, and that protection is presidential elections. If the American people vote in a person to that office, then they have to live with how that person behaves in office.

While normally I’d think Trump not attending the inauguration is just him being his petty self, given recent events it’s hard not to imagine there’s an element of he doesn’t want to be in the way of the terrorism he has knowingly unleashed.

I have trouble with the notion that the President can direct people to commit a crime, then pardon them for that crime.

Well, the solution for that is impeachment. /s

The founders thought they had it figured out.

He’ll be in his bunk… er.
