On August 29 2020 we had a “Sturm auf den Reichstag” in Berlin by neo-nazis, corona deniers and other rightwing people. They made it to the stairs, however they were stopped to enter the Reichstag by a few courageous police men in the last minute. It is disturbing how similar those rightwingers are. Rightwingers used anti-corona protests as a lever to gather enough people and off they went.
Not sure if this was more than a tiny blip in the US media last year.

Ooooo… if true, I hope they can recall Male 2 to duty, because UCMJ is going to be a lot harsher than the civilian courts.

Whoa. When the guy who creates Dilbert speaks, we should all listen.
Well, you want to word it properly to avoid any loopholes that could be exploited, but he already has examples. Just copy the pardon they gave him for Flynn, and change the name and dates on it.

Many have asked. I have referred Male #2’s name and details to the and will not be naming him right now. However, I believe you should know that his bio includes: -longtime security clearance -graduate of a military academy -Senior officer’s rank at retirement
Noooo! Not General Hammond!
Teiman, if I delete jsnell’s post – I’m not going to, but say for the sake of argument that I do – am I violating his First Amendment rights?
Wait, that’s not going to work either, is it?

I was born in 1978. I grew up hearing about Nixon while seeing Iran Contra on the news. I was in college when we invaded two countries and became cool with torture and CIA black sites. And now the travesty of the Trump administration: it’s concentration camps on the border, it’s Muslim ban, it’s collusion with foreign powers, it’s naked corruption, all culminating in a months-long attempt to overturn the democratic will of the people and an armed assault on the Capitol.
With the exception of four years of H.W. Bush, every GOP administration I have seen has been evil and corrupt. I never want to see a Republican sit in the oval office again. Ever. They have forever poisoned me against their party.
Agreed. And even HW tainted his legacy by pardoning all the Iran - Contra players.
Hawley did more than suggest. He called his canceled book deal “an assault on the First Amendment”. Hawley’s an idiot, Teiman’s wrong, and the free market has spoken.

I don’t see any way the Democrats can put individual senators on record before the inauguration at this point. Whether the articles are voted on today or in a week, McConnell can just say the Senate will hold hearings on it when it reconvenes, surely.

Why in the world would he, if he knows he’s safe from both the 25th and impeachment?!
Railton’s doing good work and handling the information responsibly. We could use more people like him.

I hope male #1 had his phone turned on and was actively filming (maybe livestream?) Why else would he put the phone in that spot? Makes tracking him down a lot easier.
You reframe the narrative that any Senator not willing to vote on removal, TODAY, is complicit in the attack on the Capitol. Which is the truth.
But they won’t do that, because Democratic leadership are cowards. After all of this bullshit all of these years, culminating in a mob storming their office to murder them, they still won’t fight back the way they need to.
Oh we might impeach. Maybe next week. I spoke to some guys in the military, they said it’s fine.
There should be non stop speeches on the floor, on the news, online, live streams. Naming and shaming every Republican representative that is stopping this from happening. Get on fucking Twitch and take turns dragging Lindsey Graham and challenge him to join your stream and defend his actions. Something.
I don’t have anything to add to this, really, but having been born in the same year I share exactly this perspective and exactly this conclusion. And we’re both stranded in deep red states. I really should buy you a drink one of these post-pandemic days.
Well, other than it being in breach of Congressional rules (I mean, I’d say do it anyway, but it is), it still wouldn’t work, because McConnell can take the bullet. And just saying they’re complicit doesn’t make people think they are.
The point is there won’t be actions. Individual senators won’t be voting or not voting on anything unless McConnell fast-tracks a vote in violation of all previous norms of impeachment, which gives him an easy out from doing so.
