That’s fine, and I agree they should, but it’s not going to result in individual senators having to put up or shut up. At least not until after Trump is gone - I understand he can technically be convicted after leaving office if impeached in the House before. So doing it this week versus next week isn’t a particularly meaningful difference, as long as it’s voted on in the House before Biden takes office.

Impeachment can not be a quich-response thing, constitutionally. The emergency measure is the 25th, and I think the dem leadership put as much pressure on the cabinet to do that as you could. You can do the 25th without the cabinet, but then it is again not an emergency thing but something that has to go through both chambers.
Since the emergency option s are out of reach, they are trying to do the best that they can with a more cumbersome political process

Odds are they’ll flip and one of them has his face open in pictures. That dude is already known and probably in custody. It’s possible they’ll refuse to give anyone up, but it’s also very likely that there will be plenty of digital connections and communications between them. ISPs and phone companies aren’t going to balk at giving those things up for them, so they’re likely fucked.

Foreign actors were unlikely because on paper there is no way on Earth this was going to succeed in any way. But then it did, because despite giving up a shitload of our rights for security, we apparently got no security out of the deal.
It does sound like there is concern about classified stolen materials. It’s probably a MAGAt resposnible, but don’t rule out a foreign agent embedded taking advantage of the chaos. And, again, they had hours in the building. Everything in there needs to be treated as compromised until it can be carefully inspected. Computers, walls, furniture, the works.
Oh, there were foreign intelligence agencies in there looting and rooting devices. You can pretty much bank on the Russians and Israeli’s slipping a few in with the crowd.

It is a low-risk, high-reward operation. They already have agents in the US. Most likely, they also have agents in the groups.
