Well, if they want to bar him, they have to vote to convict. They can make a secret pact to all vote to convict, but then they’ll all be blamed by the Trump wing of the party. They can make a secret pact for some of them — say, those who think they are safe, or plan to retire — to vote to convict, but those people who vote to convict will be blamed by the Trump wing of the party. The secret pact doesn’t really matter; it’s the public vote that is the problem for them.

You don’t need a significant amount. Just send their version of the NSA that is holed up in the Washington embassies over. They already have significant agents in DC.

There is zero downside to this op. As I stated earlier, even if you get some contacts you can use to become agents to help sow some discord. Anything else is bonus. Every spy agency op is a low percentage chance.

A catastrophic failure of planning and response by leadership, with–I am sure–some bad decisions on the ground. But probably not complicity.

It doesn’t matter even if some cops “waved them in.” It’s still trespassing, theft, destruction, etc. even if there are no cops there to stop it.

Yeah, I was referring to some Trumpers who are suggesting that because the cops waived them in that what they did was OK.

But these idiots also suggest that the cops let them in because it was a setup in conjunction with Antifa, so they’re crazy people anyway.

I’m a little annoyed that impeachment didn’t start yesterday. Why did Pelosi wait to see if Pence would start 25A procedure? For one thing, I have yet to hear anyone explain how the current situation meets the 25A criteria (have I missed something?). For another, start it anyway! Do both! Trump’s behavior is undeniably impeachable. That’s exactly the remedy the Constitution has for inciting political violence and insurrection, while 25th is a stretch at best.

I’ve read everything and I still don’t get it, outside of “procedure”. Asking for resignation doesn’t solve anything long term since I don’t think he’ll launch nukes. The matter at hand now is neutering the entire trump movement.

Yep. And if these agencies have good sources that say the LEO response will be timid, and maybe you get some agitators on the ground to go “We need to do shit” and you roll the critical success that has Trump going “you need to do some shit” and now your odds just improved.

That’s not counting the Anonymous, etc. crowd that also thought this would be a target rich environment.

I mean, if I was the DC head of a foreign intelligence agency who looked at this probable chaos and didn’t have an op on the ground in case the unimaginable happened, I’d be looking for a job right now. Assuming it’s not the type of agency that makes firing permanent.

We have all hit “Go” on diplomacy missions with a lesser success rate. I mean your only down side is at some point they will do the usual “Diplomatic personnel removed” but that is just a standard cost of business.

I mean, the selfies really don’t help the cops’ case. I’m content to wait for evidence, but I hope to hell it’s fully investigated (presumably by Biden’s DoJ) because I think there are at least grounds for serious concern.
