cant afford a sports car… thats sad

It’s been my experience that just about every male right winger wants to fuck just about any young blonde right wing talking head. Tomi, Kayleigh, what’s her name from Fox before she left, etc. It seems an inherent part of the whole right wing movement.

That’s a question for a lawyer.

Textbook definition though? It fits.

Edit: Also the bombs kind of push it heavily into terrorism. Those bombs weren’t part of the coup attempt, they were left afterwards to cause fear or hurt people.

I’m sure. It’s probably accurate to say these guys want every and any girl on these channels. They view them as rock stars.

I guess the crucial distinction is that 9/11 or Oklahoma bombing was UNANNOUNCED. The terrorists didn’t announce the time and date. Whereas the coup attempt was pretty much telegraphed in advanced, people saw this coming and then… it still happened.

Homemade napalm also tends to be considered terroristic by many.

That isn’t like a rule, it’s just a thing they don’t do because they want to succeed. Functioning governments tend to like… stop terrorism. You know, unless it’s the US Capitol, then they just act surprised apparently.

This is a really strange semantic hill to die on. They’re insurrectionists who launched a coup. Many are also likely domestic terrorists. They can be both or just one or the other.

The best part is him asking the officers to help him get to his truck.

These people (especially the organizers) need to go down not just for breaking and entering, vandalism, trespass, larceny or whatever, but actual-ass sedition, because their intent was in fact to hinder the lawful proceedings of Congress to insure the peaceful transfer of power. As such it was an assault on the Constitution and that is most definitely “not cool.”

I think it is fairly clear in law or practicality that the declaration of timing is not a relevant factor for defining terrorism.

It’s about the intimidation and fear, and not necessarily actually causing death, although usually the latter reinforces the former. If my threats to murder Biden-voters results in Biden supporters staying home, that would seem to be a pretty good indicator of terrorism, whether or not I announced when and/or where I would be doing it ie “if you show up on voting day I will murder you”.

The IRA announced many of their bomb attacks to minimise civilian casualties but no one questions that to be clearly terrorism.

When ISIS did this kind of shit we called it terrorism.

Well, it depends on whether ISIS told us when they were going to do it. /s

Protesters burn American flags. I don’t care about drawers and shit. In the grand scheme of things I’m more concerned about the coup than poop on the floor.

Not sure ISIS wiped shit on walls with the same glee as these fucks.

Shit you buy at Walmart does not equal historical relics. Just kind of how that works.

Fair enough and I agree, but we’re in the “this can’t be terrorism, because X” argument apparently, so hence my posting ISIS-like behavior.

When you have people BARRICADING themselves into rooms to try stay safe, I think you can call them terrorized and this can be called terrorism.

When people are told to TAKE COVER UNDER THEIR SEATS SO AS TO POSSIBLY AVOID BEING SHOT, I think you can call them terrorized and this can be called terrorism.

I think you need to try have a little more empathy for the people that are in the situation and what they would like the charges to be.

Edit: https://www.britannica.com/topic/terrorism

Terrorism , the calculated use of violence to create a general climate of fear in a population and thereby to bring about a particular political objective.

My country had terrorist (ETA) they use to kill cops by putting a bomb on their car. Or exploding a car with explosives next to the building where they and their family live. Sometimes they would follow a cop to work, and shot them in the head from behind.

I hate that in USA they use terrorism for everything, I am not firmly against that, but I think there are better words. This has been (on my words) a attemp to break the normal democracy process and extend Trump power. Is kind of a insurrection, but attemp coup is a correct word. I am not talking legal terms, because I am not a lawyer.

Few decades for the violent ones. The only thing that will keep these folks in line is fear, so scare them.

All we need is what Obama did- make it the FBI’s main mission to suppress these folks. Getting rid of that mission was one of the first things Trump did.

I am also against the overuse of terrorism. The original label was about causing fear in the general populace that the same thing could happen to them if they were in the wrong place at the wrong time. (This has in the past covered both people trying to gain political ground and people just trying to blackmail supermarkets.)

Nowadays it seems to be used for whenever anyone was terrified about something bad that was happening. Overall it feels like a mistake to dilute the original meaning. It’s not as though we don’t have plenty of other equally serious crimes to charge people with.

That’s not to say that none of what happened 3 days ago was terrorism. The timed pipe bombs certainly look like that way.
