My Front Porch Forum is usually full of “I have a couple of roosters, anyone want them?” and “For Sale: three sets of broken ski bindings” sort of stuff. The last few days though it’s been much more interesting. Seems some of our neighbors, in my town and adjoining towns (we’re talking tiny places, and short distances) banded together and went as part of a 50 person or so Vermont delegation to the criminal riot in DC. Several people on FPF posted messages politely requesting that these folks quarantine, given the fact that no one on the bus wore a mask and very few wore masks in the riot either.
Today, the messages got a bit more forceful, with one person requesting these yahoos quarantine for twenty years, and another eloquently calling them to task as basically treasonous cowards.
Off and on we’ve had a handful, like one or two, Trump supporters on the forum. You can tell them, no exaggeration, not only by what they write but by their terrible grammar, poor spelling, and general incoherence, highlighted by the seemingly random use of capital letters so it reads like they are frothing at the mouth.
I think folks may be getting near the end of neighborly tolerance though.
The dead officer’s brother.
Edit: sorry, believe he was just referring to him as ‘brother’ because they are fellow vets.

There’s the immediate problem, no way repercussions happen hard and fast enough to prevent more shittery for the inauguration. I assume a much more robust law enforcement presence will be on hand, if not a full lockdown of travel into DC.

We don’t want to piss off these insurrectionists. These young Patriots. Kids, really.

Agreed.
One would think, but since Trump is technically in charge of a lot of it, who fucking knows?
I would hope the Mayor of DC would ask Virginia and Maryland to send the National Guard to help or the like. I would also expect MPD to be out in full force, geared to the teeth.
But I also expected Homeland Security to be able to protect the Capitol building, so what the fuck do I know?
“Plus, let’s work together! We’re one big happy family! For the good of the nation! (Until this settles down and we gridlock Biden like we did Obama).”

Let us not forget the Secret Service.

When it comes to the actual persons of Biden and Harris, I’m not too worried (I’d call it mildly concerned).
The Secret Service will likely kill anyone that even looks like a threat. It’s the rest of the city and government that is a bigger concern.
But I’m also in favor of having the inauguration someplace indoors and secure with armored fighting vehicles outside. I’m not sure Biden is with me on that one though, which does amp up my worry a few notches.

They’ve been coddled too long. Time for them to understand they are not entitled to alternative facts.

It’s going to be months of this sort of shit and I honestly fear public fatigue letting so many of them off.
Nice! I’m a fan of Kassabian; he wrote a good memoir of his time in Afghanistan, and then a sub-par series of sci-fi novels (they are no Send us Your Armies). He’s also a fan of higher education:

There’s going to be a sustained anger on this- I’m sure of it. The order above justice crowd I think was sufficiently spooked.
I really think this might have been what we needed to get some change.

Heh, the DoJ responded to that Parler post about pardons:
“Don’t fall for it, guys!”

Meanwhile the FBI is whispering, “hey DOJ, shut the fuck up, they’re falling for it.”
