Morale is more like “Come at us again, bro.” Most Capitol police consider themselves badasses, and that they had to rely on help from outside agencies on Wednesday just to prevent tragedy…they’re pissed. Leaderless isn’t good, but they might be so spoiling for a fight that things could get ugly the other way.
I would be more worried about excessive violence being used by law enforcement authorities on Jan 20, than the other way around. Pretty sure that one of the takeaways they’ll have taken from Jan 6 is “did not use enough force”, and that it will be used as justification for unneeded violence in future.
I consider that a form of terrible morale. “Itching for a fight” is not the same as “well-oiled, disciplined team.”

That dude is crazy. There’s no getting through to him. Biden will be sworn in and this guy will come up with something even crazier like, “Trump is now the secret president. Ben Carson secretly transplanted Trump’s brain into Biden’s body. This is why he added Carson to his cabinet four years ago – just for this moment.”
