Damn straight, when it’s about protecting the institutions of our democracy.

Yes, I want to shatter the Republican party. Maybe some adults can rebuild it into a functioning, responsible party once again.

Oh they will. One party cannot offer everybody everything. Hopefully they rename and actually root out rot when it starts again. This is where I doubt their will though. They will be tempted to win, because a third party will lose a lot even as others start to trickle their way. It will take a long time to get ahead again.

And it always comes back to bigotry, doesn’t it? Anti-Semitism and anti-Catholicism in this case.

I’m hoping that we can use this opportunity to break up the two party system and abolish the electoral college. Let the extremes on both ends do what they will, and the moderate Repubs and Dems do their thing, and let majority rule.

First things first. If the EC was abolished we would have more democrat presidents, if history is any example.

The problem is the elite minority have the money, and they want legislation that protects their privelged position, which is an extreme minority position. That money will always have a huge amount of power as long as money matters in politics, which it has since forever. One party will always serve this.

I’m hoping that we can use the opportunity to get me a 20-room mansion, a Mustang Shelby Cobra, and supermodels to feed me grapes while I lounge on the veranda.

All of those things are equally likely to happen. :D

Touche, trigger. Touche.

FWIW, I would very much like lots of those things to happen. :)

C’mon guys, dpn’t be too harsh on Arnie. He may not actually be a blacksmith, but Conan’s sword was quenched in water!

Ahhhh! I can almost hear the metal cracking!

You aren’t going to do this. Stop wasting effort on it.

You aren’t going to get a constitutional amendment for this goal.

That was from June.

Yeah, yeah. I know. I’m just thinking that the timing is right to have four viable candidates running, and that someone might look into the EC, and how it wouldn’t serve that scenario.

Electoral college removal is not a waste. There are people working for it.

Looks both brainy and stylish.

Top men, right?

Seriously, to remove the electoral college, means a constitutional amendment.

That means a 2/3 vote in both houses, and then ratification by 2/3 of the states themselves.

And if your suggestion is that you need to do this, because the EC gives the GOP too big an advantage… then that means that same advantage exists in the amendment process you would need to go through to remove the EC.

Funny. It’s a real thing. Look it up. States have already voted for it.
