Don Lemon censored himself from saying “Shut the FUCK up”, instead saying “Shut up!” about 10 seconds into that video, you can tell. His brain said the F word but his mouth did not.

And another demonstration, which three members said was by far the most concerning plot, would involve insurrectionists forming a perimeter around the Capitol, the White House and the Supreme Court, and then blocking Democrats from entering the Capitol ― perhaps even killing them ― so that Republicans could take control of the government.

99 problems and this pic is most definitely one.

Also some Dems in the House have caught COVID due to House Republicans refusing to wear masks in the enclosed secure area they were evacuated too.

Also they’re now considering Republicans in Congress as potential threats to Biden and Harris personally during their inauguration.

We do need to be preaching unity- unity against fascists, and the Republican party needs to be declared a fascist party.

Anyone who attends the inauguration and refuses to wear a mask needs to be escorted out.

William Webster — Lifelong Republican — FBI Director 1978-1987 (Appointed by Carter), CIA Director 1987-1991 (Appointed by Reagan).

[I] support … those who speak of censure, impeachment or removal of the man whose primary job as president of the United States is to protect all Americans, not incite the violence that led to insurrection on our Capitol and death of five in the unprecedented assault on our democracy.

A strong American line in the sand must be drawn. We are a land of laws and our United States president, above all others, is expected to revere and protect them.

While there is talk that such actions are politically motivated, I submit that in this instance, a condemnation from both sides of the aisle would be America-motivated. A censure should not divide our country further. Instead, it should unite us behind the laws and values that have kept us together for over two centuries.

Chuck Norris has been confirmed to have been there now.

Given the security threats around the inauguration, why isn’t it being done virtually? I suppose in one sense it could be seen as capitulating to the crazies and indirectly empowering them to keep on doing it. OTOH even without the threats there’s still Covid to worry about.

This race would be like asking voters to choose between death by firing squad and death by hanging.

I can’t tell if you’re joking.

EDIT: Now Chuck is trending, but most folks agree the guy that looks very similar to him is not in fact Chuck Norris. However, it also sounds like the real Norris is indeed a Trump supporter so I’m not sure it matters if he was there or not with regards to my still thinking of him as “cool”, when I think of him at all (which is, honestly, not in the last 5 or so years before I woke up this morning).

There seems to be a lot of this sort of doomsaying on cable news shows this week. I caught someone (can’t say who it was) saying in CNN last night that we can’t possibly defend the US Capitol and all 50 state capitols against protests. There are 700,000 police in the US, and another half million national guardsman. Whatever our problems are, it isn’t that we don’t have enough security forces to defend state capitols against the number of actual, radicalized, capable insurrectionists.

There are (maybe overblown) concerns the 700,000 aren’t completely reliable. We’ll see. Maybe being an ALARMIST!! isn’t warranted and everything will be okay. But even a handful of those 700,000 can do a lot of damage.

Sure, but some people might cause some trouble isn’t the same thing as we can’t possibly defend 50 state capitols.

let the rats get out, then add them to a no-fly list and they will stop being a problem except in their shitty home state

Well, the US is big, but not so big that you can’t drive almost anywhere in it in a handful of days. One day, in many instances.

Have adult diaper, will travel.

how many of those 700,000 could be trusted to do their duty? I’d say under half at this point.
