Well, I mean, he has to stay in Hawaii, that’s… uh… probably… hm.

Oh that was a waste of fucking time…could anyone have asked them about the further threat of violence in the coming days and preparation for it? Sounded like a whole lot of CYA to me…

Summary:

We’re rounding up the horses using every available lasso.

Who left the barn door open? No comment.

Are we taking steps to make sure other doors are closed? Not even mentioned.

Do you think they’re unaware? Did you see the FBI bulletin/warning yesterday?

Do you think they’re going to disclose their methods and how they’re preparing and tracking things?

Yeah. I really am getting a better sense of how military juntas can not only happen but be seen as acceptable to other alternatives. Which sucks.

I’m talking about reassurance, not even mentioned with the lead up to the inauguration

I was smacked down here last time I said “Why the delay on impeachment in the house!?”. I was told that just because they were also pushing for 25th (and later 14th) amendment solutions, those weren’t delaying impeachment articles, because they were doing both at the same time. Articles of impeachment take a long time to compose, I was told! It’s going as fast as it can.

What they ended up with was ONE article that’s four pages long. I have no issues with a single article or a short article. And I know it takes a lot of eyes and pens to complete something like that, so they need time. But the article was revealed, what? Yesterday? And now the vote is happening not today, but tomorrow? Instead we’re getting non-binding resolutions that don’t pass that encourage the vice president to act?? Instead the House should be acting with the remedy it has at hand.

Once passed, the Dems and the Republicans who want to see Trump gone should be RAILING on McConnell, et al, to get their butts in their seats, receive the article, and have a trial. If they won’t, let it reflect on them that they still would rather protect their president, their party, and their worst supporters.

Tell me why I shouldn’t be incensed.

And yup, local CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX, WOR, WPIX couldn’t be arsed to cover the briefing. Why should anyone else care if they don’t?

Because you might make a Republican angry.

I watched it on an NBC stream.

Did they interrupt the Ellen Degeneres show on that stream? I’m not talking about streaming. I’m talking local affiliates. People with eyes on their TVs

$5,000 bond, and being charged with misdemeanors. I thought trying to violently overthrow the government might qualify for worse punishment than stealing a carton of cigarettes.

Because you don’t understand how the process works? There’s a lot of procedural things that allow congressional members to object to speeding them up. Republicans have objected so they can’t be sped up more. Just because you (and me) want them to have impeached and removed him already doesn’t mean that the process allows it.

There’s also going to be the impeachment reports released which are much longer documents.

I couldn’t speak to that - I’m not near a broadcast capable TV - but it didn’t feel like a big enough thing to interrupt normal scheduled programming to me.

Radio silence for 6 days after the Capitol was attacked i think warrants interrupting the daily line-up for 10 minutes

I feel like the whole point of the press conference was just to say that much more significant charges are coming and no one should assume that the relatively light charges filed so far is any indication of the charges working their way through the Grand Jury process.

Excessive bail is unconstitutional (at the Federal level, but not the state level, for reasons too complicated to explain here). In Federal criminal court very few people are held in pretrial detention. This is not abnormal.

He will have a trial and stuff, and will serve some jail time (at least 85% of his sentence).
