Liberals can be patriots. Hell, they’re more likely to be patriots. Patriots can fly the flag.
You can tell the bad ones because they put out their flag and then ignore all the rules imo (or plaster it everywhere, wear it as clothing, etc). Flying the flag outdoors is a responsibility imo. I got pissed at McDonalds here in town because it was storming and their flag was hanging by one loop and wrapped around the pole in near tatters.
I’m old school though. You fly the flag, you take responsibility for doing so. And as a corporation you don’t get to play the patriotism card and then shirk any of that responsibility.
I get on my mom for buying cheap little flags around holidays, planting them in the yard and then forgetting about them and leaving them out there. Maybe I’m weird like that though. I do have a big American flag on my wall that’s been there since I bought it when I was 9, it’s still on my wall. I wouldn’t fly it because it’s a pain in the ass to do it right. I remember many times going out in a storm or the like to bring the flag in when I lived with my parents.

They’ve been talking about “mass arrest events” for years. The date comes and goes and nobody questions the source, they just assume there’s a good reason for the delay.
I mean it’s 100% exactly like religious nuts. “Trust the plan” is their literal motto. You can not question Trump, because he knows things you don’t and is a super genius. If things look bleak today, it’s only because Trump wants it to feel like that.
I’m sure at noon on the 20th when Biden recites the oath these same people will think that Trump still has cards to play.
Well, the current flag code traces its origins to 1923 and became law in 1942, although it was never intended to be enforceable. It seemed to me that @Timex was criticizing people who claim to respect the flag but actually violate the flag code through ignorance.
Yeah this is exactly how I feel.
We got an American flag for our front porch just before the election. My wife and I are and always have been staunchly anti-Trump, we were just kind of patriotically energized by the fact that we we were participating in the election (not that that’s new for either of us).
Anecdotal of course, but as broken as a lot of our government is right now, there’s still a lot we like about the parts that work.

(Actually that wasn’t my jacket, it belonged to a camp counselor on a summer church trip and at one point we stole it from him and all the guys posed for dumb looking pictures like this. Youths!)
I mentioned on facebook that it was kind of comforting to see the troops not caring too much about the lack of cots at the Capitol, and my friend Kasey – who has worked for the army for over a decade (in a civilian capacity) in the supply chain and who is married to a national guardsman who did two tours in Iraq was like “Yeah, I get what you’re saying. But I’m looking at those photos and thinking ‘Someone forgot to requisition cots for this detail.’” Cracked me up.
I am not at all patriotic. I do not begrudge anyone who is, just that for me it’s not like I had a say in the matter.
But seeing the flags fly on 1/6 from the throngs of troglodytes really pissed me off.
When Trump dies, guaranteed there will be a surprsingly large contingent of Q-nuts who think he’s just pretending to throw the deep state off his scent.

And that’s great. As I said, it’s more a reflection of my feelings than any objective truth.
Yeah, he’ll just be playing pinochle with JFK Jr. somewhere.
Let’s just hope that doesn’t evolve to them expecting the second coming of Trump, when he will drain the swamp for all eternity and there will be all the White Power everyone ever dreamed of, and (white) people will kill off libs with a vast arsenal of holy weapons to fulfill the 2nd Commandment, I mean, Amendment.
