Trump supporters storm the Capitol Building

Reminds me of a Turkish proverb:

The forest was shrinking, but the Trees kept voting for the Axe, for the Axe was clever and convinced the Trees that because his handle was made of wood, he was one of them.

Laws have changed in regards to this sort of thing as I understand it.

Another one.

Two comments. That’s a hard fifty, but I kinda have to admire that he came prepared for the Capitol’s secret underwater level.

Some of these guys are going to run into sympathetic judges and get off very easy.

Yeah, but it still hurts.

IIRC, pre-trial detention is rare for federal crimes.

Ken just had a thread on this.

I hope they checked what was happening in the basement.

Oh for F sales, that guy is 50? Is that what life in Louisiana does to a person? I hope I will look better than that at 70.

I laughed and nodded, a textbook example of when to use profanity.

This is nails.

I’m gonna go with Ken White’s opinion on this for now, that they’re in a world of shit. Especially Air Force Zip-Tie guy here who admitted to being part of a terrorist conspiracy.

Again, please listen to All The Presidents Lawyers. It’s a pretty eye-opening podcast.

Also simply not worth it. :)

I don’t know what Trump will do here.

I know he likes using the pardon power, residually for his cult.

But also, he is terrified now, and he cares absolutely zero about any of these people.

I have been a restaurant boss, too, and I stand by my post.

Lol, let her rot, what a waste!.. to quote the Idles “I don’t care about your rose garden, I’ve listened to the things you said, you just sound like you’re scared to death!”. Once they see the cell, suddenly, they found God.

They were all totally sure he was going to pardon them, it’s the whole reason they were so unconcerned. At the time, I figured they were probably right, but I think Trump may have gotten it into his head that pardoning them would in some slight way make him more vulnerable to litigation, and if that’s the case there’s no way he’ll do it. We’ll see, I guess, but the folks that were making the “he’s too transactional to do that” argument like @divedivedive may have the right of it after all. It’s another one of those cases where I’d be thrilled for them to be right and my initial take to be wrong.
