Well, he does point out that (specifically contra analogies with Rome) the civil/military relationship in the U.S. is actually quite healthy. He also notes that some of these takeovers in Athenian history were temporary in addition to being on-the-surface farcical.
I don’t know that he’s claiming the Q Plex will actually be able to hold power onto the U.S. in perpetuity, but rather that they are determined to cause chaos and destruction and ‘this ain’t over.’
Getting away from the blog post, another possibility IMO is a military junta - the Army stepping in as the ‘sane’ and stabilizing force. Imagine a worst case scenario in which Q nutjobs actually had managed to kill a big chunk of the Democratic caucus plus Pence, which in terms of raw physics, we now know was absolutely something that could have happened. How do things play out after that? Does our government withstand such a strain amid the ensuing panic, or do certain ‘exigencies’ and ‘shortcuts’ start to come into play? (I like to think, BTW, our Joint Chiefs are mature enough fellows that, if ever called upon to exceed their authority in such a way, they would step away once things were stabilized - but such an outcome is hardly guaranteed.)

Also since the election there was some fucking sedition and a shitload of those centrist Trump supporters (ie damned near all of them) turned on Trump and Co completely.
I actually think this is a pretty toxic take and I hope whatever screening being done on troopers isn’t this abrasive. Humans are complex, you can vote for Trump and even donate money to his campaign and still be an ethical person who does their job and does it well (eg, GA’s SoS). So I hope Biden’s people aren’t trying to insist that troopers be grilled on how they voted last Nov.
