Irrelevant to the thread, but I think being single for the ladies sucks way more, considering how many more dudes are fringe-right than women. So here’s the ‘sense’ of it from the podcast:

Normally in very cold places like chicago, the dating scene dies out when it gets cold. Nobody wants to go outside, much less visit bars and other public gathering places. So many younger people (think in their 20’s, not necessarily looking to get married yet) are looking for someone to spend the next few months with, because otherwise they’ll be alone.

Covid is like permanent winter.

Now, for the people the listened to the podcast, you’ll note that some of these people’s attitudes have changed - they started off wanting “right now”, and have realized they actually ARE looking for “the one”, so it’s not just a random hookup for a few months anymore. There’s a real change in attitude of many of the people who were formally social butterfly / players.

But you’d have to listen to a whopping 12 minutes of a podcast to actually get the whole story.
