In DC, it’s worth noting that the Secret Service and all police organizations here – DC Metro, Park Police and Capitol Police – literally know every park bench, every pothole, every nook, every cranny. When they do their sweeps, they know where persons might hide, where explosive devices could be left, etc.

Those warnings about attack potential seemed in a way to be a pre-emptive warning to profoundly stupid persons to don’t even think about it.

Yeah, this seems inevitable, but we can hope that Biden’s DOJ prioritizes right-wing domestic terrorism appropriately as the biggest threat to American lives. The good news is that smart lone wolves who can put together a really deadly attack seem to be super rare, and the majority of these terrorists are idiots who love nothing more than boasting about their plans to everyone who will listen.

I also think that the tolerance for “occupations” of government buildings (both federal and state) is going to be at an all-time low for a while.

Are these people actually going to get convicted? Those Bundy guys mostly got off, even though they were clearly guilty. If there’s just one Trumper on the jury that’s that, it won’t matter how airtight the evidence is.

Are they going to be tried in a Washington DC court? That seems like it would help.
