Yeah that’s not new, and it wasn’t new in 2000 either. That’s been a problem since before I was born. We just called it voter suppression. The new sexy claim of voter fraud is the same thing.

You’d have to play hardball back- if you have the House and Senate, throw out their electors, or declare that the state is now failing to provide a republican form of government as required by the consititution (this provision could be used if you really want to get nasty- even if the intent was to avoid say a Grand Duke of New Jersey)

The Germans eventually woke up from their shared delusion. Now it might take importing the Great Chinese Firewall, and having everything related to Trump and MAGA censored, and make it illegal to wear MAGA hats, but there is a good chance the public will get over it.

A much lower chance that 20-25% of the population won’t become obsessed with other wacko conspiracy theories.

I hope you’re right. I have to admit, it’s hard for me to see how we get out of this without it getting really, really ugly, but then my ability to predict the future of late has not been great. In some ways all I have to hang my hope on is that so far I’ve been wrong at least as often as I’m right about what would happen next.

I don’t know it is seems like most Trump supporters could stand to be a lot thinner. If they use a bulldozers on few MAGA rallys, it would help with pot holes and dissuade those with above room temperature IQ from going to more stupid protests about stolen elections.

Not to Debbie Downer you unnecessarily, but I’m pretty sure there will be Republican accusations of voter fraud in every single election from here on out.

I was thinking more along the lines of people taking to the streets to celebrate the ousting of a terrible president and then the terrible president’s voters (or non-voters as it were) just sieging the Capitol. That’s got to be unique right? I mean if I have to endure a hellish every 20 year election, can’t it be special each time or, you know, just not happen.

Every 20 years? I suspect every 4 years the way the GOP is going and how many votes Trump actually got.

Hell, we would have had this for the 2016 election had Hillary won. The Fox/GOP spin would have been all about how Russia interfered in the election to help Hillary. She would have been impeached and out in a year, easy.

If the GOP wins the House in 2022, I think it entirely possible it’s on the backs of these same people who invaded the Capitol, or at least their myths, and that the GOP will file Articles of Impeachment. And if they win both the House and Senate? yeah.
