Ok question for those who know the area, and why I replied specifically to you Trig since I know you are one, what is the significance of this area? Where was this person likely headed based on the location.
Man, some people do a little insurrection and now you can’t even attack officers without getting shot.
Also, this is probably someone not right in the head, no? It’s the US, if you plan to do this sort of thing, surely you can get a gun?
So, it’s been since around Christmas – but pre-riot – since I was down by the Capitol, and I’m not exactly sure where the barricades are, or if they’ve expanded a perimeter around the building. But…
Here’s where Constitution Ave. is, in relation to the building. It’s basically across the “backyard” if the Capitol had a back yard. It’s the north side, that faces away from the National Mall, etc.
I’m not sure exactly where on Constitution this happened. But if I were to make a maybe guess, if you look at that map and see the “Robert A. Taft Memorial and Carillon” to the north of Constitution, you’ll see a street that runs at an angle towards Constitution. It’s a narrow, one-way, New Jersey Ave. And in typical times, you can drive right down New Jersey to Constitution and then make a turn on Constitution either way…but you can’t cross it because there are barricades there across the street.

It may be that you can’t even drive Constitution past the Capitol since the riots, I don’t know. It’s usually a pretty busy street in normal times. I imagine they have to leave it open. But the “STOP” barricades are all up around there and in my experience, even looking like you’re going to do something like cross against a WALK signal or (shudder) jaywalk will get you yelled at by Capitol police and/or a citation.

Just announced by the acting chief of the Capitol police, one officer was killed.
A significant number of MAGAs are clinically insane, so I wouldn’t be too surprised if it was a MAGA attack.
