Narrator: “Once again, Joe Manchin was to be proven wrong.”

I’m confused, didn’t McConnell filibuster it?

He’s about to in all likelihood.

Oh, I see, this is the cloture vote, not the vote on the actual bill.

Make them sit there and speak non stop forever if they want to filibuster.
They are old fucking men. They can’t do it.
Watching Manchin on the floor, his body language, he is acting much closer to R than D.
Talking to Democrats, he is dour, distant, arms folded, unresponsive. Talking with Republicans he smiles, stands close and lingers in handshakes, almost jovial and interactive.

Welp, time to Benghazi up this motherfucker.
I thought that was what this commission was supposed to be? A way to drag the Republicans name through the mud and smear Trump so badly he couldn’t run again?
I’m not actually very disappointed it isn’t going anywhere, it was all for show anyway. As long as the FBI is still arresting and the DOJ is still prosecuting the actual people involved in storming the capitol I think justice is being served.

It was supposed to be a deadlocked and ineffective commission where the GOP would block any subpoenas for anyone anywhere close to themselves and party members they wanted to protect. But even that wasn’t good enough for them.
Now there’s really no choice but to use congressional committees to do investigations using the current subpoena rules. Which I believe were created by the GOP so they could pull off the endless Benghazi shitshows.
Collins and Murkowski with another show vote so they can claim bipartisanship later.

It’s like a limbo competition for invertebrates.
I’m going to steal that line, it is too good to waste.
How utterly predictable - Rob Portman grows a spine shortly after deciding to retire from the senate.
The Democrats now have both subpoena power and a Justice Department that will enforce subpoenas and contempt of Congress. They should make ample use of both.
To do what? Honest question. I always thought the idea of congressional hearings on 1/6 was just to create political spectacle and drag certain Republican names through the mud. I’m not sure that really requires subpoenaing anyone. Is there another angle on this idea that I’m missing?
