If recent history proves anything it’s that absolutely nothing of consequence will happen to McCarthy, even with the obvious corruption move here. He’ll likely gain voters and eventual control of the House, will punish the companies, and Republicans will cheer him on.
Certainly to the MAGA types, greater corruption and illegality will be perceived as “badass.”

Of course people like Josh Hawley, Matt Gaetz, Gym Jordan and the like get to pretend that they’re shocked, shocked that this happened.

Well have our own investigation! With blackjack and hookers!
You know what, forget the investigation.

To which the reply is always: Play stupid games, win stupid prizes(, asshole).
This rally coming up on the 18th claiming that the people currently charged are somehow political prisoners is truly batshit. It’s not like the feds just started arresting anyone whose face appeared on security cam video. There had to be some evidence that the individuals committed crimes, like, you know, felonious assault, breaking and entering, etc.

Yeah, it’s not like they drove up in unmarked minivans and just abducted people off the street.
Just remember that all the rhetoric about the January 6th insurrectionists is 100% gaslighting. Just straight-up lies made up to appease the base.

Yes, the Feds under Trump did that (with BLM protesters), but they didn’t do that with the Jan. 6th rioters, with which, for some inexplicable* reason, they showed remarkable forbearance. If those had been BLM protestors there would have been dozens of bodies.
*Read: “Not so inexplicable.”

So many of these people are straight-up mentally ill.
Copeland disrupted a virtual court hearing for multiple defendants by lashing out over another defendant’s lawyer saying his client had “Foxitis” from watching right-wing media outlets. Court officials muted Copeland’s phone line.
That’s when Copeland called a probation officer and announced he was on his way because he wanted to be heard and would “die for it,” according to the officer who testified during the more than two-hour hearing Friday.
The probation officer put on body armor in anticipation of Copeland’s arrival. According to the officer, Copeland took his shirt off, pressed his head against the bulletproof glass separating them and said he would eat the officer if he were on the other side because he was “starving.”

That’s awesome in its miniscularity.
Yes, he might be straight up mentally ill.
It’s so nice that social media lets the absolute bonkers find each other and magnify their delusions. As Dean Martin sang, “Everybody needs somebody sometime.”

This sounds like police officers aided in a coup attempt on a school board in San Diego last night for antivaxx reasons.
