“Commander-in-chief” is the language of the constitution, isn’t it? So it probably requires more than simple legislation.
This shit is why the Roman Republic had two consuls.

So is the right to declare war and it’s decidedly not in the President’s wheelhouse.

Look how that turned out.
Lasted almost 500 years, not so sure America is gonna make it out of this decade.
The Roman Republic didn’t last 500 years. The empire did, but not the Republic.
~500 bc to 27 bc isn’t “almost 500 years”?
Eh, I am wrong, sorry. I didn’t think of the Romans as a power that early.
Rome is amazing. Its early (kingdom) period even predates classical Greece by centuries.
Throwing Trump from the Tarpeian Rock. Now there’s an idea.
As is ostracism, as practiced by the Greeks.

So, is shit happening in DC this weekend, or not?
I suspect there will be a whole lot of breathless reporting on TV but very little violence, as the protesters coming in probably realize Biden’s not going to let things get out of hand.
Oh they’re not telling people to stay away. You see, the cool thing about preemptively publicly stating that the rally violence is just a false flag is you can do whatever the fuck you want and claim “see I told you they were going to blame us”. This is them “learning” from January 6, where they only claimed it was a false flag after the fact, which doesn’t work as well.
Trump won’t be there, so I doubt more than a few hundred show up.

I’m good with it too, BUT BUT BUT IT CAN’T BE UNILATERAL. That’s the point Scott is making. If a general decides to contravene the President’s orders, he needs to place himself at the mercy of court martial, of Congress, of some oversight. That’s the check on unilateral military usurpation of civilian control.
If that’s what was even attempted (we know it didn’t happen).
Can’t we just have one of them thar juntas like they had back there in Myanmar?
