That was funny. You are quite fluent in business-speak.
Of course. It’s a procedure for a rapid response, and it would have been a shame if we had had to surrender to the Soviets back in the day because the Chairman was indisposed and not available to be the go-between. So I think we can reasonably understand that ‘may’ doesn’t constrain what the President can actually do, and what Milley was trying to do was to constrain what the President can actually do. Good for him, but it’s unusual and ought not to have been kept secret from the public.
Wouldn’t it be great if this was all a suspect entrapment scam, and right now people are scanning the faces in that small crowd and comparing them to the photos / videos of people then still haven’t identified from 6 January?
It’s likely at least half in that crowd are media.

LOL @ email.
I didn’t realize this was called the “JusticeforJ6” rally. We’re not in disagreement here! We are all in favor of justice for Jan. 6th!

So if you’re a Trumper do you:
A) claim the media are lying about the turnout and that it was actually the largest crowd at a rally in history, proving that the nation wants justice
B) say this was a fake rally set up by the FBI and ANTIFA
It’s nice to contrast the turnout of that rally with, e.g., a portion of the L.A. turnout for the 2017 Women’s March.

Looks like it wasn’t even a nothingburger. More like a nothingslider.

No real surprises here, but it saddens me deeply, as Mayberry was pretty close to how I grew up, good and bad. (more bad than good, but the positive values are still what I think we should strive for)

I love that show and still watch an episode on occasion but watching it now you’re painfully aware that this must be that mythical town in the Southeastern US where you never saw a black person.
There were one or two episodes where there were a couple of young black men in the background (in the context of recruiting for the military), period.
In an episode of the spinoff Gomer Pyle, I distinctly remember an integrated scene where there where white, black and Asian Marines (only one each of the latter), but only white guys had speaking roles.
The people who live in the actual house that Walter White threw a pizza onto had to install tall fencing around it to keep people from taking pics and throwing their own pizzas on the roof, so I can totally believe a Fakeberry would draw 6-figures annually.

The show was of the most important things about being from North Carolina growing up, along with tobacco, ACC basketball, Mid-Atlantic wrestling (what became WCW) , and NASCAR.
None of those things aged all that well, though I constantly wish I could go back to that time knowing what I do now. I’d do so many things differently.

The show had its moments. Don Knotts combusting was good stuff.
The writers had no idea how to do female characters. We’re probably lucky they didn’t write for people of color.
