Basically the point of nurses was so that the doctors would have someone to hit on. Even Houlihan, fairly often.

The opening story in this episode of This American Life is about black kids who grew up watching Dukes of Hazard coming to grips with the topic

I don’t know. Should a show that had the protagonists with a Nazi flag on the hood, but was otherwise indifferent to Nazi’sm, be pulled? I think the answer to that is “yes”.

It seems me that more than few of the nurse hit on Hawkeye and B.J., although the show would definitely be a lawsuit waiting to happen today.

There was the running “gag” where at various times Hawkeye and (when he left) Henry Blake, and maybe others, do the V-J Day “Times Square grab and kiss*” on Houlihan, and she doesn’t particularly object afterwards.
*Which from what I understand itself was unexpected/unwelcome at the time.

And the only non-corrupt and competent cop on the show.
That said, I think the Dukes did a lot to normalize the Confederate Flag.
Hell, my mother not that long ago said something to the effect of “you liked the Dukes of Hazzard and the car,” when I mentioned it being the flag of racists and traitors. As if those two things somehow had anything to do with one another.

That is fucking hair raising. It’s diabolical, and could have worked.

I mean, it could have worked, but it’s not some genius-level legal maneuvering. Steps 2-3 are the exact legal equivalent of Pence saying “I declare that Biden is a poopy-head and therefore I declare Trump Presidente for Life”. He’s making the argument the Vice President alone picks the next president, and no vote or process can prevent that.
And, of course, now that Harris is VP, I’m sure he’d make the exact opposite argument.
It could have worked if enough people went along with it. Maybe they would have! Probably we’ll find out soon enough.

Yeah, while this doc puts a little more clarity on what instructions he was given, the lynchpin of the plan is legally untrue, which we already knew from before Jan 6th when chuds were talking about the idea that Pence could overturn the results.

It definitely hinges on the Supreme Court basically saying “this isn’t a legal matter, it’s political, and we want nothing to do with it.”
And that’s a thing they’ve done before. I’m really glad we didn’t have to roll the dice on it.

Precisely. You know Thomas, Barret, and Kavanaugh would all be for playing such a game. Roberts most likely, but not 100%, would not play along. Gorsuch and Alito? They would be the wild card. You’d like to think they wouldn’t go with such a ploy, but would you really want to roll that gamble with everything on the line?
It’s the equivalent of Pence stepping up to the podium and just saying “we don’t need no electoral votes, we don’t have to show you any stinkin’ electoral votes.” In practice, what actually happened isn’t very much different than this ‘plan’.
The Electoral Vote Act describes the procedure for dealing with alleged controversies over a state’s certified slate of electors. There’s going to be a vote, just like there actually was; and the right electoral votes are going to be counted, just like they actually were.
Trump badly overestimated the number of Republicans in the Senate who were willing to go along with this shit. What was needed was not a different approach to tossing electoral votes, but an actual majority for doing it.
There are three “MAS*H” iterations to think about. The TV show is by far the most well-known. The movie was quite a different thing, in many ways, with quite a distinct vibe. The book, by Richard Hooker IIRC, in turn while closer to the movie than the TV show is also its own thing. But yeah, all of them have some issues with gender/sexual politics for sure.
Actually several books, as he entends the story after Hawkeye returns to the States. The books are quite readable, though they get worse as they go along.
The movie is certainly different from the TV show, for a lot of (mostly obvious) reasons. But yes, a lot of the humor wouldn’t go over very well these days. Just having a character named “Spearchucker” is good example.

Gorsuch is the only wildcard, imo.
Maybe Kavanaugh or Barrett. Alito would personally overthrow the republic and go full police state if it was up to him.
Corporate police state, that is.
