Did his team also tell him to wear armor that day?
Maybe the NYT and WaPo can do more deep dives into the minds of trump voters and how we should all have more empathy for them.
Don’t let anyone tell you that Eastman was just going through the motions when he wrote that memo on Pence’s options.
He was very clear that he was not denouncing “when do we get to kill people?” on its merits, but because it is “playing into their hands”.

Wapo put up an extensive article about 1/6. So far I’m not seeing any previously unreported news, but out of the gate they aren’t mincing words.
President Donald Trump’s assault on American democracy began in the spring of 2020, when he issued a flurry of preemptive attacks on the integrity of the country’s voting systems. The doubts he cultivated ultimately led to a rampage inside the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, when a pro-Trump mob came within seconds of encountering Vice President Mike Pence, trapped lawmakers and vandalized the home of Congress in the worst desecration of the complex since British forces burned it in 1814.
(The link is a “gift” off of my account, so it should work even if you don’t have your own WaPo account. If it works.)
Pleading the 5th, get it?
I started watching ‘4 Hours at the Capitol’ on HBO. It’s a tough sit. I think I might achieve actual apoplexy from rage if I watch the whole thing.

Thanks for sharing. I might end up rage quitting before I can make it through.

Hearing going on today regarding Trump’s attempt to assert executive privilege.
So far the judge is having none of it.

It’s official. The universe listens and has a sense of humor.
Like when my dad said after retirement “We’re not moving to Florida!”. As if he could escape the curse of our people to begin with, much less after the hubris of announcing it.
Ryan denied in her letter that a tweet where she wrote that she had “blonde hair white skin a great job a great future and I’m not going to jail” didn’t indicate that she was above the law.
“I wasn’t saying I was above prison, I just felt that it would be unlikely since I was pleading to entering the Capitol for 2 minutes and 8 seconds. Now I realize that was a false notion, but having a false notion does not automatically mean I deserve incarceration,” she wrote. “A tweet of me taking up for myself against a bully who is harassing me does not indicate that I feel above-the-law.”
When Cooper brought up Ryan’s comments on Twitter, Ryan told the judge that she “just shouldn’t tweet.”
Me sowing: Hahaha! Fuck yes!
Me reaping: What the fuck? This sucks!
I particularly like the part when the judge called them out on the bullshit of examining each document. Pretty much said I see what you’re trying here and you can piss off. Still this will go through 9,000 appeals until the clock runs out. Sigh

The National Archives should just send the stuff out, unless someone specifically tells them otherwise.
Filing a lawsuit doesn’t actually force them to stop anything, right? An actual judge would have to issue some kind of injunction or something?

That really is the money quote. The self referential nature of it. “I mean sure I was wrong about not going to prison, but I shouldn’t go to prison for that”.
Who knows? All I know is that he’s now like 5 years out on handing in any taxes returns. Just delay delay delay.

My feeling is that Trump makes these filings, and then the Archives are like, “What should we do?”
But I’m not sure they actually have to do that. I may be mistaken, but I feel like maybe they could just say, “Oh, you want that stuff? Biden says it’s fine, so here you go!”
Don’t even give anyone a chance to contest it… Trump could do so after the fact, but it’d be pointless.
Exactly. Need to flip the script on this delay tactic business and simply release everything and let him try and stop it.
