Well, the omnibus spending bill that just passed has a provision in it preventing Federal dollars going to ACORN, an organisation that hasn’t existed since 2010.

So social media companies are banning the POTUS for using their platforms to “incite violent insurrection against a democratically elected government”, White House staffers and Administration officials are resigning or simply not coming to work in droves, journalists and media personalities across the spectrum are calling this an “insurrection incited by the President”, and the FBI is seeking information leading to the arrest of dozens of people whom the President yesterday called Patriots and told them “he loved them and they were very special”.
Meanwhile, Congress has gone on a 12 day vacation.

Yeah, that’s an interesting response. I have to imagine that from their POV the situation is under control because a chastened Trump won’t try this again. I’m sure they’ve had someone privately tell him that 25th Amendment and rapid-fire impeachment options are on the table. So they think he will sit quietly for two more weeks and stop stirring up shit.
The problem with that reasoning is DJT. That’s not his style AT ALL. He can get up to a lot of mischief in two weeks, though the social media deplatforming is going to help limit the damage.
Well, they probably have to take at least a couple days off to replace all the compromised hardware in the Capitol building.

Not being in session is not necessarily a vacation. It doesn’t mean no work at all will be done by individual members or committees. Just that there won’t be any voting on things unless they are called back.
That said, they should absolutely be staying in session to push through an emergency impeachment.
