Yes, it sounded like it was written by a child and call his the greatest presidency in history.

So the insurrectionists were successful in distracting the police though placement of pipe bombs. I’m sure they will appreciate that bit of intelligence for their next attempt.

Yeah no shit. I was struck by the juxtaposition of these two statements:
United States Capitol Police (USCP) officers and our law enforcement partners responded valiantly when faced with thousands of individuals involved in violent riotous actions as they stormed the United States Capitol Building.
The USCP arrested the vehicle’s owner along with 13 additional suspects for unlawful entry of the U.S. Capitol.
Something about those numbers doesn’t add up.
The degree of the ass-covering attempt there was something to behold.

In fairness, they can’t arrest thousands of people.
Ah, of course, that makes perfect sense.

We are going to need a lot of hearings to find out who exactly gave the police and national guard the stand down order.
The problem with thinking that Trump tried to stage a coup is that would require some forethought and planning, something DJT doesn’t really do.
Now did he hope to create chaos? I have no doubt about that. He loves chaos. And he may even have had some vague idea about declaring martial law and then that somehow would let him remain in office. I doubt he had much of a plan, though, and who would his co-conspirators be? Flynn?
I think his only plan was Pence or Rudy delivers a miracle.

Yeah it’s a good article. It was a coup attempt by Trump. And the legislature just shrugs it’s shoulders and goes home.

How many of these reports will say Donald J Trump?
I’d do it myself, except I want the form to not be bogged down by repetition.

It also doesn’t help that the Senate is adjourned and wouldn’t take up the nomination anyway.
But he’s doing an amazing job of showing marginally more competent people exactly how to do it, so it’s just a matter of time.

It was a coup attempt and we are lucky nobody on the inside of the actual protection force for the members of congress was in on it.
Thankfully all the insurrectionist reps are themselves such fucking cowards I didn’t fear them trying to help the guys planning to kidnap and murder democrats get in.

On May 3, 1971 DC police arrested 7,000 Vietnam War protesters. There have been several occasions even in the last decade where they’ve arrested several hundred: September 2002 protests against the IMF, April 2016 protests for campaign reform. At the 2004 Republican Convention in NYC 1700 people were arrested. When they want to arrest thousands, they figure out how to do it.
They’re here. Certainly a quorum are.
The two weeks between swearing in a new congress and the inaugural are typically adjournment. New congresspersons finish moving in, hiring staff, getting to know folks for committee assignments. Existing congresspersons start talking to the incoming administration on a first 100 days. There’s nothing else to really do “in session”, because they’re not going to present a lame duck president even in the best of circumstances, with legislation to sign.
To add to that now, they’ve got tons of IT infrastructure to repair/replace and secure as well. And a Senate which, as Menzo pointed out, has been gaveled into adjournment until January 19 and will not accept articles of impeachment until then at earliest.
I haven’t quite been able to keep up with the thread or all the news, so sorry if this was already answered, but do we actually know who fired the gun that killed the woman at the capitol?

DC Capitol Police have claimed that one of their officers shot her.
