I was actually kind of optimistic yesterday - here was a physical manifestation of the threat so many people didn’t seem to believe existed. Here was a direct, terrifying threat to exactly the people who could do something about it. So much fear in the voices of congresspeople that spoke yesterday, surely they’ll do something. That hope is fading fast.
