I think maybe you’re unreasonably imputing motive here. I doubt that Omar thinks she’s engaging in an insincere performance by spending her time in lockdown drafting articles of impeachment, and I doubt that AOC thinks she’s engaging in an insincere performance by supporting articles of impeachment or encouraging others to do so, or by demanding that the House act.

Any Articles of Impeachment that can get drafted AND passed in less than two weeks will bypass ALL norms. There will be no investigation, no debate. Merely votes. The version we saw just over a year ago was truncated already. To worry about respecting traditions and norms for impeachment is laughable - there are no norms, and each is its own unique proceeding. That said it doesn’t really matter who writes the first draft - only that it demonstrates momentum.

The key qualification for drafting articles of impeachment with a prayer of rushing through isn’t race, age, or the sound of the name. It’s the R after the authors name.

A single figleaf R name on the articles won’t be enough, and they’ll never get a majority of Rs in the House to sign on.
Even that doesn’t matter - its the Senate. Its all the Senate. This is McConnell’s window to get rid of him once and for all - if he just reaches out and grabs it.
