Turning a lowly GBA into a cheap man's GBA SP

So I’m too cheap/poor to upgrade to a GBASP, but I do want some of the perks - mainly the lighted screen and rechardgeable battery pack.

Now, I’ve heard of afterburner, but I’m not confident mailing it in to a company, and unless I find a store that’s competent enough, I’m ruling that out (me + solder = pain).

So I’m wondering if you guys have any suggestions for top rate batterypack/ac adapter combos (that allow me to play while plugged in, or off the battery pack) and maybe even a light thing.

I hear that the wormlight was pretty cool… was I mistaken?

Thanks.

My local ebgames is running a promotion where you can tradein a GBA and get a SP for $69.99, presumably part of a national promotion. It’s not that much more cash than you would pay for a decent light/set of rechargeable batteries, and I would bet you would be much happier with the SP than the modded GBA.

Don’t bother trying to mod or upgrade your GBA with externals. It just isn’t worth it.

Save up, trade in some stuff you don’t play anymore, or just bite the bullet, but don’t spend any more money on the original GBA.

Thanks for the advice.

I wonder if a Canadian EB will take both my GBA and Gameboy Colour for a tradein

They might take both, but you’ll get a lot more for the GBA than the GBC. I suspect you’ll be lucky to get $10 for the GBC.
