Turning Point USA: Owning the Libs by Wearing Diapers Since 2012

I wanted to make a thread for Turning Point USA, because I know we don’t have one, but I live off of the stupidity that is the right wing grift that is TPUSA.

For those un-initiated

Turning Point USA is a right wing NPO focused on getting young conservative engagement on college campuses. They are there to combat the “liberal bias” in higher education, and provide conservative students with a way to get involved politically. This was definitely a gap in most higher ed institutions, and the founder Charlie Kirk continues to grift rich marks promising a change in the politics of those with higher education degrees, who have historically been more liberal than those with no higher education.

What this has resulted in? Gaffe after gaffe after gaffe.

Diaper protests

Accusations of Racism and Illegal Campaign Activity

More Racism (I don’t have enough space to post them all)

The founder, Charlie Kirk, knows so much about college campuses, that he didn’t even attend one before starting TPUSA.

He is not an idiot, he is a man who knows his grift well, he is exceptional at selling something to the older conservatives with deep pockets who fund his non-profit. Have they been effective? Who knows? This is essential to his grift, there is no way to know if they are being effective or not, unless there is a significant demographic change in college educated voting preferences, who can say?

But, that brings me to the reason I have created this thread. Candace Owens. She is a young politically minded African American female voice who was a college student who founded a website, degree180, which posted many anti-conservative and anti-trump memes and opinion pieces. This will come as no surprise, but she also did not complete her college education. (A trend in TPUSA)

In a 2015 column that Owens wrote for the site she criticized conservative Republicans, writing about the “bat-shit-crazy antics of the Republican Tea Party”, adding, “The good news is, they will eventually die off (peacefully in their sleep, we hope), and then we can get right on with the OBVIOUS social change that needs to happen, IMMEDIATELY.”

This is ESSENTIAL to the grift, and truly shows the content of her character and despicable nature. She has only one allegiance, to the grift. When anti-trump memes and opinions weren’t getting her the money or attention she needed. She left college and joined a private equity firm, and her politics changed drastically to meet her career and financial goals. She is now the director of communications of TPUSA

We have an organization, founded and run by people who never completed a college education, collecting money from conservative donors to engage with young adults in college with hilariously tacky memes and catchphrases (and diaper rallies).

This is an organization that can only survive on the conservative grift market that exists today, because anyone in their right mind would not be donating any money towards an organization that has had their director of communications quoted thusly:

“Globalism is what I don’t want. Whenever we say ‘nationalism,’ the first thing people think about, at least in America, is Hitler. You know, he was a national socialist, but if Hitler just wanted to make Germany great and have things run well, OK, fine."

And while I do think her quote is a bit misconstrued, and she was trying to make the point where Germany went wrong by going on its conquest of Europe, rather than fixing things at home… it came out a mess.

And this is your DIRECTOR of communications. Self-godwinning, on the internet.

Also Kanye is a fan, so you know you have done nothing right.

So, any TPUSA news I find to rant about will be here, feel free to join in!

Just to further elaborate:

This is the organization that the “Major Player in Conservative Politics” is running.

“Genocide is fine, just don’t spread it,” was a pretty amazing move by their Director of Communications.
Of course, people gobble it up because people are fucking stupid.
If Charlie Kirk told people bleach prevented disease if you drank it, we’d have half a million people in the ER/dead overnight.

Blexit: A Black Exit of African Americans from the democratic party

A term coined by Candace Owens, and her current focus in TPUSA. How is that going?

In October 2018, Owens launched the Blexit movement, a campaign to encourage African Americans to abandon the Democratic Party and register as Republicans. The term Blexit—a portmanteau of “black" and "exit”—mimics Brexit, the word used to describe the United Kingdom’s withdrawal from the European Union. On the launch, Owens said that her “dear friend and fellow superhero Kanye West” designed merchandise for the movement, but the following day, West denied being the designer and disavowed the effort, saying “I never wanted any association with Blexit” and “I’ve been used to spread messages I don’t believe in.” Shortly after the launch, The Daily Beast found that approximately 16 percent of the total tweets using the #blexit hashtag were from Twitter accounts associated with the promotion of Russian disinformation.

Going well I see.

On October 31, 2018, Owens was sent a trademark infringement cease and desist letter by an attorney for Blexit, a Minneapolis-based non-profit founded in 2016 that is developing a black-led credit union.

Very good.

And nothing of value would be lost.

Yes. Is there an amount we can donate for him to push that message? Because I could get behind that.

TPUSA hiring update. They have pulled in serial fraudster Benny Johnson into the organization. Talk about failing upwards!

Several online sleuths discovered multiple instances in which Johnson—then a viral-content star for BuzzFeed—lifted phrases wholesale from other websites. BuzzFeed editor in chief Ben Smith initially defended Johnson’s reputation and his canon—which included such work as “The Story of Egypt’s Revolution in ‘Jurassic Park’ Gifs”—by telling Gawker that “Benny Johnson is one of the web’s deeply original writers, as is clear from his body of work.”

But then at least 40 more instances of plagiarism were discovered. Not only did he rip off content from other media outlets but he also copied wording verbatim from About dot com, Yahoo Answers, and Wikipedia.

Ah well, at least he learned his lesson right?

After being fired by BuzzFeed, Johnson found a brief home at National Review Online before moving on to conservative startup blog Independent Journal Review, where he was eventually demoted and then fired over a series of reported mishaps that included: Publishing baseless conspiracy theories, allegedly violating company ethics and being a poor manager, and, ultimately, plagiarizing yet again.

Ah well then.

“Benny is bringing his humor, wit, and creative force of nature to Turning Point USA as our new Chief Creative Officer. It’s a natural partnership and we could not be more thrilled,” Kirk said of Johnson’s hiring in a statement to The Hill.

You know you are a good organization when your CHIEF CREATIVE OFFICER is known for being very creative at plagiarizing others.

The grift continues.

And I am going to just leave this here. If you want to lose the will to live. Watch this TedX talk from Benny himself.

The grift continues to roll on.

This is the group attempting to engage and influence college student behaviors. And their ads are reaching… Boomers. It is almost as if the ads are targeting the people who send them money…

They are over here too.

and of course, Turning Point UK is immediately supported by the Brexiters, because, and Ive said it before and I’ll say it again, they are a bunch of racists.

He’s a natural fit for an organization that steals all their best ideas from Nazi Germany.

From the TPUSA party at CPAC

“A Beer”. Fresh from the can!

Also, might not want to remind everyone that Mexico was supposed to pay for the wall.

And good job making anyone who orders a Rum & Coke use the word “pee”.

God, the people at CPAC must be such douches. Sounds like my old college roommate’s description of the people at the College Republican gatherings he attended.

They were always douches. Now they’re fucking horrific.

I don’t think sinister means what he thinks it means :)

Those aren’t interesting cocktails, and aren’t even good joke drink names.

Russian Collusion should obviously be Vodka + Coke, or Vodka + Bourbon, so it’s a very Russian thing with a very American thing.

Why is The Wall Whiskey Neat? Because it’s something old white people drink? There’s no joke there.

Mexico Will Pay For It tracks, but is a bad joke because there’s no extra level, it’s just “here’s a Mexican thing”. Trump Derangement is not even a joke.

Cryin’ Schumer is ok, I guess. It tracks as “whine”, and as “what liberals drink”.

It just shows that they really are twelve years old.

Yeah, and you know when they were coming up with these, the guys were just rolling, thinking this was the funniest thing ever. I’m sure one of the kids literally peed his pants laughing at “Juice box”.

At the Young Latino Leadership Summit:

Charlie Kirk:

“The Left have become the true racists. They say — Mexicans cannot be conservatives — they say black people cannot be conservatives. That’s a racist thing to say.”
