Ohh I like where this is headed…

I sure would like to know what the new gameplay is. New illnesses and stuff is fun and all but new mechanics would be enticing, assuming that’s what gameplay is.

Looks like the base game and expansion (except for a retro art pack) are $26 right now. Anyone play this enough to have an opinion? Worth grabbing at that price?

I’ve enjoyed it. It scratched my Theme Hospital itch quite nicely. I keep meaning to get back to it and finish all the scenarios, but keep getting distracted by other shinies.

It’s fun while the fun lasts and is pretty cute and humerus. It didn’t seem to add much new stuff as I progressed, other than more diseases and their associated equipment.

It’s Theme Hospital with a slightly new skin, modern UI and game, and a lot of fun. It didn’t invent much in terms of new wheels, but I played the entire campaign and enjoyed it. I did not go back to do the seasonal things though, and there was only one maybe two levels I think I actually hated… and that’s because I wanted to max out each level and not just move on when I could.

Make no bones about it, the game can tickle your funny bone :-)

Off the grid dlc:

New dlc is out and some release notes:

Is it true that the DLC just adds more variety but not more mechanics?

So far pretty much. Slightly different looking hospitals with new illnesses and new machines to diagnose/treat.

Yea I quit after the first DLC. Boring doing the same thing with just a visual sweep.

Thanks you two for saving me money :-)

Your welcome.

Been playing this a lot! I like how they build the game and unlock features as you go, one of my main problems with a lot of these kinds of games is how quickly i grow tired of them and the available rooms/equipment etc.
This way they keep it interesting for quite some time.

Just curious about how you guys train your staff? Su you go all in for one specific trait (like treatment I - V) and locate that staff to just treatment rooms? Or do you mix up some other traits in there

Make a training room FILLED with chairs to make the training super fast.

IIRC you divide staff into two types, treatment people, and primary care. Everyone has to go to primary care, so what you want is maximum diagnosis for them. IIRC you can minimize it to 1-2 visits, that’s what speeds it up. You don’t make money from primary care, you make money from expensive overpriced special technology stuff just like real life in the USA.

I specialise my staff and designate their roles, especially when it comes to the diagnostic stage and reducing the number of trips back to the GP. So I’ll have a heap of GP I - V specialists, a few radiologists (X-Ray/CT ability plus diagnosis I - IV) and then diagnostic nurses I - IV with motivation. I’ll also have the option enabled to fast track treatment just to save the trips back to the GP office. Having really good diagnostic teams is the priority though.

When it comes to treatment, Psych and Surgeons get maxed in their fields. Otherwise I’ll have nurses and drs with treatment skills, bundled with the genetics skill for drs, or the pharmacy or needle skill for nurses. I do like to include motivation in with this team too because they might end up running from one building to the next. At least with my diagnostic rooms, I can generally bundle them all together.

I like the game, but I’m getting sick of dealing with temperature right now. It just ends up being stupid busywork requiring an added scroll on the menu to find the radiators and/or air conditioners, then finding a place in the room to add them, or out in the corridor so they don’t get in the way. But overall, having a hospital of 100+ patients running smoothly is a nice thing to see.
