There’s a middle ground between impossible and simple.
It’s possible we only the developed the framework to describe these things as aliens at that time, as technology became such a big part of our society, where in the past people would use a more religious or supernatural framework.
Flying around a bit in secret, because apparently intelligences capable of traveling interstellar distances and defying the laws of physics are terribly concerned about humans seeing them, to the point that in 70 years of “sightings” and despite an entire world filled with people carrying around high definition cameras in their pocket and a forest of always-on telescope cameras pointed at the sky they’ve never, ever produced a clear image of one.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. It would help if they at least had some ordinary evidence.
The easier it is, the worse it looks for there being any technological alien life inside our particle horizon.
I think the Gospel of Matthew, with its zombie apocalypse that no other disciple cared to mention, shows that pre-1500ish accounts aren’t really that good a yard stick.
The nice thing about arguing for aliens, is that for every reasonable alternative of something that we know exists and have an idea what it looks like, we can say what it shouldn’t look like. But we don’t know what an alien craft looks like, so anything can be a spaceship from beyond the stars.
The less clear the evidence, the better the case for aliens.
Well said, I just replace “aliens” with “don’t know.”
Yup. You can convince me that we don’t know what a particular image or video is, but the distance from “we don’t know what this is” to “this is aliens” is literally light years.
Here’s a fun one I always tell my astro students: An astronomical unit is the distance from the Earth to the sun. The number of astronomical units in a light year is roughly the same as the number of inches in a mile. Space is big, folks.
So you’re saying it’s definitely aliens?
Keep in mind, when trying to figure out what government would do, Louie Gohmert is part of the government. And that Devin Nunes is on HPSCI.
So now I’m thinking that Luis Elizondo is the distant relative of Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho, and now I’m on board with aliens. Also, don’t know.
No, for the hundredth time in this thread, I am not saying that. I do enjoy arguing the pro alien side though.
That’s not true, here are but a few:

Weren’t those images literally owned up to by the guys who did it, like the Sasquatch film?
Yup. Not just fakes, admitted fakes. Right up there with crop circles.
Not that I’m aware of. Possibly the black and white one, it has been debated debunked and certified repeatedly for decades. The color one from Vancouver Island as far as I’m aware is controversy free.
Understood. You said among many others (by inference from ‘just a few’), could you post a few more?
Putting aside the aforementioned debunkings, exactly why would I conclude those are images of aliens instead of images of frisbees or similar thrown disks?
And let’s again loop back to the original point - even if you convince me it’s not something mundane and easily identifiable, there’s nothing here that supports “alien.”

I also discount any “UFO” that aligns nearly perfectly to what people in the 50s assumed alien craft would look like.
“Did you hear about those UFO videos? Do you think they really could be aliens?”
“Well I like to keep an open mind, who knows what those things are.”
“Maybe it’s just sensor errors and optical illusions?”
“No, can’t be. Too many cases and witnesses.”
“So meteorological stuff we don’t quite understand?”
“There is no weather that looks like that.”
“How about advanced human built aircraft?”
“Experts have said this isn’t human technology!”
“So… Aliens?”
“Well, you know, even if it seems out there we can’t rule anything out.”
True dat, if I’m designing a trans-space craft I’m not going to increase its forward surface area any more than I have to.
Well then you have answered your previous question as to why no good photos exist. Because any good photo MUST be something else.
Sure.

Man when the UFO guy is really a flying saucer guy.
