Actually I find the map interesting because you always hear about how the armed forces are reliant on poorly educated southern youths full of piss and vinegar, but low on future prospects.

The modern equal-opportunity US Army has always welcomed poorly educated youths with bleak career prospects regardless of where they come from.

… at least if my 90s basic training platoon was any indication.
