Was going to put this in the “Tell us what’s happened to you…that is interesting” thread, but it might be bringing politics where they don’t belong, so I’ll put it here, where it also doesn’t seem to really fit.
I transferred to my new control facility. Bc of the lapse in funding, they bounced me back to my previous facility. Previous facility put me on admin leave rather than furlough me. Technically, this is fair. I’m not working, so I’m not getting paid, whereas I would have been not working and getting paid in the end for it.
Still, that’s quite a chunk of change to be missing with my recent medical bills. I don’t live month-to-month, and my profession is compensated better than many federal employees, so I can’t complain too much about this unpaid vacation, but I’d still rather be working.
I am concerned that this will affect my save-pay, though. If that happens, it could cost me about $60,000 in the first year alone, all said and done. : 0
I believe scholars refer to this as the Chidi Anagonye Effect.

Not surprising. How could it not? It’s not like TSA pay is enough for these poor people to have a nice safety cushion. I’m sure people on the right don’t give a shit about that, but once air travel becomes seriously impacted? The pressure on Trump and the GOP is going to ratchet up several notches.

As someone who relies on the TSA operating for my living situation, I really wish I could drop off a stack of Target gift cards for them all - but they can’t accept tips.
I wonder if airports could hire them all on as private contractors… They’re already trained!
My wife asked if she could give them gift cards when she flew last week. They can’t accept and could get fired if they did. Sucks, because they certainly don’t get paid much. I have flights over the next couple of week and I’m just waiting to hear that the airport is closed.
Trump has made people feel sorry for TSA agents so don’t ever let anyone tell you he hasn’t accomplished anything!

But seriously, fuck the TSA. But slightly less for the duration of this shutdown.

I say it’s just a little more calibrated. I’m still fully on board the Fuck the TSA bandwagon, it’s just that I don’t have animus towards the individual frontline workers. It’s the policy of security theater that I have issues with.
I mean I have a little animus toward them. I’ve gotten the full pull-out-of-line-patdown-swipe-with-bomb-swabs megasearch treatment virtually every time I’ve flown since 9/11. It’s really goddamn annoying.
