Vampire Survivors - How did no one think of this before?

I went with the first no issues

Have any of you encountered this bug yet? It’s a first for me and it lasted for about 5 minutes or so.

I unlocked the Library level. And when I first played it, it had a green arrow indicator on the left side of the screen. So I kept going slowly over time to the left, but never reaching anything. That green indicator would always be there, telling me to go left.

But yesterday I played the Library level again with several characters, but there was no more green arrow. Only on that first night when I unlocked the level.

I’m really enjoying this level. Just the way the enemy is herded into groups in this one makes it so much more satisfying than the first level, once you get the right weapons.

The green arrow points you towards the relics in the level. Once you get them the arrow will go away.

I’ve got the chest opening music stuck in my head this morning. You know the music.

I do. They really managed to nail that slot machine overstimulation of noise and light.

It’s masterfully done. I had the pling pling of xp gems popping into my head at random moments when I was playing this a lot.

I’m a little surprised to see the sheer number of clones popping up on my Steam queue. I guess this is officially the new Flappy Bird.

I’m not in a rush to dive back in, let alone play a clone. If I’m gonna demolish a screenful of enemies over longer periods of time, I’d rather play Diablo 3.

Less “clones” and more “survivors games are a new genre of their own.” Some of them are definitely just clones - I saw one where the whole draw was “generic sexy anime girls” and the actual gameplay was extremely average, and where they had originally announced a pornographic version as well but canned it - but people are doing very interesting stuff within the framework of a survivors game, and there’s still a lot of unexplored design in there. I recently picked up Rogue: Genesia, which combines survivors gameplay with a Slay the Spire-style stage progression and a clicker game-style slow permanent upgrade system, and I’m excited to see what else people do with the genre.

Yup. And you are seeing elements of those games used in some strange and creative ways, witness:

This isn’t an arena survival game, but you can certainly see the inspiration in various ways

stuck in a run at 260+ minutes and can’t bring myself to end it prematurely… most boring stream I’ve ever done I think.

Genesia is pretty good. I like Crimson Dawn and Soulstone Survivors as well. I’ve been tempted to start a genre thread a coupe of times but haven’t gotten around to it. Tiny Rogues looks good. Brotato is fun (it largely eschews permanent upgrades - there are unlocks that add items and characters to the available pool), and pretty fast.

I keep hoping the Vampire Survivors dev will add a data reset.

I think Army of Ruin is my favorite so far, albeit relatively limited at this point.

How is the EA version of Soulstone?

Don’t think I’ve seen that one, but Scarlet Tower looks interesting.

20 Minutes to Dawn on iOS is fun. $3 with no IAP. You generate a currency with runs that unlocks weapons, characters and build-customizing runes (a decent run gives you enough to unlock 3-10 of those things, so you’re not grinding.) The high contrast pseudo-monochrome with red bullets and the sound design work.

My kids like this game from the developer of Shell Shockers. I’m not a fan but it’s neat to see how the same trend is sweeping through elementary school browser games.

I’m stupidly addicted to this doofy little half-game

It’s great. Has a lot of content, and it’s clear more is on the way. You start with 2 unlocked characters and can unlock 12 more, and there’s a lot of progression elements bound to each character as they advance through levels.

There is probably some re-balancing required at the high-end, but I’ve gotten 40 hours out of it and still have some unlocks to go.

I’ve definitely gotten my money’s worth out of it.

I liked the demo, though there wasn’t great run variety.

I’ve enjoyed a little Spellbook Demonslayers. It’s pretty easy* though, and doesn’t have a lot of content to keep playing for. Very early access, but also very cheap.

If you’re talking about skill variety it opens up a lot once you unlock a few different characters and runes.

The structure has changed a lot (and I can’t believe they have made it more chaotic than it already was). The prestige levels weren’t a thing before, that I noticed. There are actually spells from the beta that are locked away now (notably meteor swarm at pyro 20). There are many more skills that have been added, though.

How do you unlock the red portal?

Uh… uhm… I think it’s unlocked by completing a level in less than 12 minutes. That’s Overlord mode I think (and the purple portal is Endless Mode) in case you’re trying to figure out what to do for certain achievements.

Actually, this is in the latest patch notes:

Appreciate it. How about the purple one (don’t see that in the notes)?
