There’s definitely a bit of crossover in the creation of the original hardware and was some partnership there.
Valve developed the lighthouse tracking system and is responsible for SteamVR, both of which are open to other developers to use. Valve is making the Knuckles controller independently, which is unlikely to be a ‘Vive’ peripheral but more akin to a Steam Controller for VR.
HTC built the Vive (with help from Valve) and are solely responsbible for the Vive Pro, and Viveport.

Can also highly recommend In Death on Steam. Great archer game set in the afterlife. It has randomized dungeons and you unlock achievements over multiple lives, building up your damage potential and unlocking new items as you go. Creepy as hell at certain parts too. I’m not too far into it but am having a blast so far.

For those among us who have strong stomachs, joysticks and chairs:
Overload
If you remember Descent, well this is that.
Looks fun but I downloaded the demo and it wouldn’t start for me in VR. Boo!

its odd, i had to put my hand on the oculus sensor to make it think it was on my head in order to get the load bar to move. Odd bug and certain to get solved.

So they announced the Vive Pro kit with SteamVR 2.0 trackers for a bargain $1399. (Calling it a kit for businesses.)
From the PR, it sounds like the biggest advantage of SteamVR 2.0 trackers is a much bigger tracking area, which isn’t really an issue when most of us just have a problem clearing a big enough space to have a minimal play area.
Are there other reasons you’d want SteamVR 2.0?
Fallout 4 VR just got an update! According to this the Rift is mpw supported (though they refuse to call it out by name, just a mention that more steamVR - compatible devices are supported)
Also, supposedly performance has been improved and the edge culling fixed. Good news!
Awesome! A shame the sale is over. Just as well… I still have plenty of Skyrim VR to play!
Speaking of Skyrim, really nice beta patch just released:

Nice! Hope this helps that problem I was having. I’ll test it tomorrow.
Patch is a huge improvement for me. Was suffering constant 6-7 second long freezes where it acted like the HMD lost connection with the base, especially in menus and the outdoor cells (fresh install - no mods). Now it only happens very occasionally, and for only about a half second.

Hmmm, so somehow I missed the Brass Tactics talk in this thread a couple months ago. I realize I was thinking of it as a VR version of the board game Brass for some reason and had no interest. Just tried the demo and wow, this is one solid VR game! Probably not incredibly deep in the long run but it was a lot of fun playing the demo.

I need to get back to playing it some more. I love to control scheme they came up with.
Yep, me too. It completely fixed the stutter I was getting when turning to the right. That was getting to be a real nuisance.
Plus it seems to have fixed the unintentional backward movement I was getting occasionally as well.
Now I’m curious to try the HMD-directed smooth movement.
The performance in Fallout 4 VR is greatly improved with the patch. Still some minor stutters here and there but it’s very playable.
After years in early access, The Forest finally hits v1.0 today. And later this month comes a VR version!
Might finally be time to shift it out of the backlog. :)
Today we are also announcing our first major update to the game. The VR version of The Forest will release for free to all players of the game, on May 22. It’s the full game, with your hud on a smart watch, a full 3d inventory, and tree cutting using motion controls. We think it’s the most fun vr game we’ve ever played and can’t wait to share it with everyone.
Looks interesting, and it seems like they put a decent effort into the VR adaption. But I’m a big wuss who continues to flinch for feral ghouls in Fallout VR despite playing a walking nuclear god, so probably not the game for me.
I’m getting a bad feeling that I can’t play Skyrim VR or most VR games with this.

So this happened.
For $200 you get way more value than I expected. It’s very accessible to new users
