Anyone able to quickly check what availability date they’re quoting now for the full package? Curious how long I’d be waiting if I were to give up my spot and re-register, but the store page only shows me the buy-now option.
Still waiting for HP Reverb to get in stock, but all accounts say it provides exactly that “oh WOW” jump for cockpit games.

Initial Reverb reaction was “Oh, Wow,” but I’m seeing a lot of issues now in the DCS topic. As is typical online, a mix of love and frustration. I’ll be anxious to try one out, but so far it looks like the Rift S allows similar clarity with better frame rate.
On an unrelated note, Vader Immortal is the most fun I’ve had in non-cockpit VR. Only about 40 minutes, but given the production value and gameplay, well worth the low price.
Hell yeah, this feels great to play! I especially like crouching to slide at the end of a jump.
Why the lack of content though? Are they bringing more as DLC or something?

Anyone with Quests have issues with frame rate in Beat Saber and SUPERHOT VR? Tracking is still perfect but the motion of objects within the games start hitching a bit. Not a big deal, just curious.
A dev explained here:
In short, they had to build it from the ground up to get it running on Quest, including designing all-new levels. So to compensate for that they also priced it around half of what it sells for on PC
Cheers! So they may add more levels, but won’t add the campaign or multiplayer features.
I did notice some frame rate issues in it. Not really noticed any in Superhot though.
Was looking forward to plenty of VR this weekend with the new Index, but unfortunately I’ve got some severe static/popping in the headset’s right speaker that is pissing me off. Reddit is fairly awash in hardware issues (most related to the controllers). If you’re thinking of jumping in, I’d hold off and see how it all shakes out.

That’s really odd, because the Quest has the same issues. I’ve only had it happen once, and it’s resolved by a power reset of the unit, but it’s weird that two HMD’s by two different manufacturers have the same issue.

For my birthday today I insisted my 70yo mom and dad try out the Quest. Best present ever, blew their minds :)

what… you didn’t leave it there with them :)
What did you have them try out?
I picked up Jet Island on sale for $15 and HOOO BOY is this a keeper. Why didn’t anybody tell me that the jetpack-skiing traversal mechanic is essentially just VR Tribes?? As you can tell, this is definitely a selling point for me…

Jet Island puts you on a frictionless hoverboard with little jet thrusters in both hands plus a grappling hook you can fire and retract. So it’s basically Tony Hawk meets Spiderman. You also have a little gun to shoot crystals and there are some Shadow of the Colossus style bosses around the island. I found and defeated an easy one right near the start. But mostly it’s just a big, trippy, dream-like sandbox to skate around in. This video will give you a good taste:
You’ll definitely need your VR legs… my tummy lurched hugely (in a good way) when I went sailing up the half-pipe in the tutorial section. What an incredible sensation. For a while I couldn’t figure out how to stop but you just use the grip button to pull the board out from under you and hopefully skid to a stop before careening off to drown in the ocean.
Anyone else tried it? I can’t wait to play more tonight.
If Oculus were to make this happen in an official capacity, they’d have my $400:

Looks like GORN! is set to exit early access and release on the 18th.
Don’t know how legit this ‘TheInformation’ source is, but Splinter Cell and Assassin’s Creed in VR rumoured:
The article also mentions that initial Quest sales have ‘substantially exceeded Facebook’s internal sales projections’.
The problem with this is we don’t know what the initial projections were.
I just take it to mean it’s selling better than they thought it would.
I guess the more cynical could say they lowballed the projections to allow them a positive spin no matter the sales. :)
Yeah, I’m not trying to be cynical, just that they could have provided a bit more context.
Anyway, I hope the sales convince them standalone is the way to go.
But isn’t the fact that the Quest is selling/doing pretty well supported by our experience here on the forum?
I’m a Vive guy but this seems like good news.
Also, HOLY SHIT, JET ISLAND! I’m getting better at it and having a ball.
It’s all part of the rumour anyway, I don’t think they’ve actually made any public statement about sales. ‘I’m told’:
Yeah it’s def. doing ok, the Reddit thread is full of reports of supply scarcity, people’s ‘first VR headset’, and non-gamers buying into it too.
