Fair enough. That’s the one thing all the wireless bridge software suggests not to do. I’ve never tried it myself.

That’s disturbing. With the Quest I have to move the slider all the way in and that just makes it acceptable for my too close together eyes. Would suck to really love the Quest and have an upgraded one not work because of this.
Yeah, maybe the response to the Rift S lack of hardware IPD will convince them to leave it - but you never know. They did it with Rift, maybe they do it with Quest too. :(
All we do ‘know’ (i.e. only a rumour) is that one of their prototypes doesn’t have it.
If anyone else is still playing/tinkering with Skyrim VR, this new shader for ENB is fantastic. Vanilla Skyrim VR looks terrible, like you’re viewing the world through the bottom of a dirty beer mug. Cranking up supersampling only does so much and comes with a severe performance hit. I’m now running with 1.0 supersampling, Luminous ENB + this shader (similar to this post) and Skyrim is easily the best looking and most expansive VR game around.

I was looking for ways to increase my exercise/workouts and I picked up VRBox and bought a jump rope. I highly recommend it. It makes for a pretty brutal workout and spikes my heart rate nicely.
Something like this…
Jumping the rope with the VR headset sounds like an accident in the making… :P

I had a tought time getting the timing right on punches with BoxVR. It kept telling me I was missing!
Another great workout game is Oh Shape!, which ends up being like yoga crossed with a dancing game.

Not BoxVR but my girlfriend does Fitness Boxing on the Switch, and in an effort to be supportive and get a little more exercise myself, I do it with her, but I don’t hold anything, I just punch alongside her. She consistently has to punch slightly before I would think you would punch to be on the rhythm if she wants the game to acknowledge her punch. If you do it exactly when the rhythm would seem to dictate, it’s a miss. Would be incredibly frustrating for me, but since I don’t actually rely on the software and it’s not a big deal for her, seems to work out ok. But anyway, the problem is widespread!
Yup, this is exactly the issue I have with BoxVR. I learned to adapt for jabs and hooks but I still miss uppercuts at least 50% of the time.
I have BoxVR but never play it much. The music wasn’t great so I tried importing my own and it’s super slow and never gave a good result. Also it didn’t give any feedback when you hit.
So instead I go a few rounds in Thrill of the Fight! ;)
Definitely one of my favorites. It’ll give you a workout for sure. I needed every second between rounds to recover! I wish they had more opponents though.
Local boxing gym has all kinds of interesting opponents to spar with. Try it, it’s fun!
New Quest entering production very soon, out this year?
a source with direct knowledge told the Nikkei Asian Review. “The new Facebook Oculus VR headset will enter mass production around the end of July.”
I’m in the beta for Swam. This thing
At this point I don’t remember how I entered it, maybe I saw a post on reddit or twitter or whatever. It’s pretty good arcade game, very fun, although too hard for me. It feels a good VR experience as clearly it has been designed with VR on mind since inception. It’s also obviously not recommendable for people prone to VR sickness.
It has a nice comic book style that works well within the limitations of the Quest.
The beta (no idea if this represents the full game or not) has three comic pages as the campaign, the first one with six panels (a level). So around 18 levels for the campaign? Each level must be beaten by surviving all the waves (around 7-9 per level?), and you get both a high score and a series of optional objectives that get you stars, like killing the gold bot (it’s super quick and leaves the level after a few seconds), or killing x blue bots with red bots (red explode of course), or killing x enemies with enemy missiles (fired by a miniboss). The type of thing that will make hardcore players to expand their playtime, but at least right now it’s not needed to gain upgrades or anything like that.
There is a series of mutators like no enemies, infinite slowmo, and more for the levels, but using them turn off the campaign progression. There is also no difficulty selector, and right now I’m stuck at the end of the third level :/. I’m bad or the game is hard, one of the two. Ok maybe both. The thing is that you don’t ever recover enemy health in the stage, so there is a hard limit on the number of hits you can recieve before it’s game over. Falling to the bottom (the sea) is also an immediate game over.
The grapple system feel natural, you can pull with the arm to make it have more tension and gain a bit of speed. It’s very ‘easy to learn, hard to master’, as one thing is feeling natural, and another thing altogether is to be able to got exactly where you want, you have to take in account your current inertia and not always a platform will be exactly where you want.
What else. I’ve seen a non-default weapon, that would disappear after depleting its shots, there is a slowmo feature (hold B) but it can only be used every x seconds. You can pick gems that appear after enemies die, they are score multipliers, but they disappear after a while so sometimes you have to choose what is the priority, waves of drones that are going to disappear in the exit portal soon, combat drones that are firing you, or some gems that are blinking and will disappear very soon.
There is nothing ‘extra’ in the beta, like endless mode or things like that.
Leak of the Quest revision

I hope the first thing they fix on the new Quest is the weight distribution and/or head strap. It’s just not comfortable to wear for long periods.
It came from Twitter, from some guy who has previously leaked stuff from Microsoft.
He just posted the image, we don’t have any other information. A pair of months ago there were rumors of a revision with 90hz screen, less weight, faster SoC (but I bet it will be just to run the games at 90hz instead of 72hz, it won’t allow for higher fidelity games), and better sensors for the controllers (more accurate and higher refresh).
Who knows if also it will allow for an easier connection to PC, as the Link was always a bit a hack, as it doesn’t allow to transmit video over usb.
