This may be paranoia from my side, but I feel the action of swiveling up or down the hmd to find the sweet point feels a it worse. I think it’s just the facial interface shape adapts to my face in a different way.
On the other hand, I think i have less ‘nose gap’ now. Veryyy narrow now.

I just did a full session with the Quest 2. I watched Bad Boys 3! The reason? It’s a 2 hour movie so it was easy to control time, I had pending to watch it, and I wanted to know if it was able to stream and decode a 4k high bitrate (50mb/s) file from my computer. I used skybox app and dlna, so it wasn’t transcoded in my computer, it was handled by the Quest.
I had 7% left battery when reaching the 02:00 hour mark, that’s more or less as expected. Maybe 3-4 minutes less than the Quest 1? Mind you, that was with constant use of wifi, like with Virtual Desktop, a local file would have used less battery.
Apart from a battery test, it was too a comfort test. I’m not a fan of the new strap, like most people, it doesn’t hold the back of you head like the previous one, depending on the head it may bother you in the ears, and it’s less elegant when removing the headset and putting it again. Elite strap can’t come soon enough. But that said, I think the comfort was a bit better than the Quest 1, on longer sessions like this. Although surely it’s just in the weight difference, and not in the strap.
The screen itself, great (beyond the black levels). There were two moments where if I focused, I could see a very fine squareish pattern of the lcd, but normally it was invisible.
By the way, two misc points: the 64gb version has 51.15gb free, and in experimental features you can enable the 90hz… just for the OS and tv.
I don’t know about the just the strap, but I ordered the strap/battery/case combo from Amazon at the same time as the Quest 2, and it doesn’t release until 17 November!

Ha ha, of course. So what is VR porn like? Do they just put you in the middle of an orgy so you can look around at different things going on? I don’t quite grasp the concept.
Think POV content, but you can look around. Most are 180 degrees with binaural audio.
Quick and dirty test for ‘modded Quest 2’, just 3 velcros. Comfort is improved, although still inferior to modded Quest 1. I think it’s because I’m putting the straps too tight, trying to compensate the lack of ‘cusp’ on the back of the head.

But yeah most is point-of-view from the eyes of the lead, to put you ‘in the action’.
It appears 3D. You can’t move, only rotate to a limited extent because the 3d cameras they use to film kind of loose the eye separation at the edges of the 180 degree image.
It’s pretty effective closeup, less so for stuff further back or to the sides.

It seems odd since one of the selling points of VR seems to be the ability to look all around you, yet you don’t really want to do that with porn. I guess if it looks 3D that might be appealing to some.

It does immerse you ‘inside the environment’, just like 3D rendered VR experiences do. If something is close to you, your view is filled so being able to look around within that forward 180 degrees is definitely a plus.
ROFL. I had that pillow, and one more cropped by the photo, and it was precisely thrown in there because I was swapping both. I had a bothersome neck pain during several days of last week and I think it’s the bed/pillow.
I mean, dakimuras are too expensive!
Any recommendations for a link cable for the Quest 1? I’ll likely be packing it up and handing it down for Xmas, so would be good to include cabled PC functionality.
I don’t want to pay $130 for an official one… :)
RPS had a recommendation for a generic one today. Lacked the 90 degree connection I think.

I’m just going to get the recommended extension, the 16ft Cable Creation USB 3 one (which happens to be on Prime Lightning Deal right now), and use it with the bundled Quest USB 2 cable.
Don’t get one at all. Get Virtual Desktop instead and be your best wireless self.

Of course I have that… but this isn’t for me. I’m giving Quest 1 away and want a cabled option so the recipients don’t have to buy Virtual Desktop day one, and pray their Wifi is good enough.
